Did Trump really just say "People are dying, who have never died before"?
Yes, they are, and not everyone agrees with your alarmist conclusions about just how potent the coronavirus is. You are operating in this conversation off the assumption that it is terribly, terribly ferocious, and there is ample data to indicate that while it is serious, it is not worth shutting down the global economy over. Consider this new story from Bloomberg:

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...-died-from-virus-had-other-illness-italy-says

Let's at least try and have an adult conversation for one moment. I've been giving you actual real-time data. The contagion rates and death rates are actual. You can look them up yourself. You don't need me to hold your hand.

Do not forget how we initially started having this conversation, you said the whole reaction globally was based on hysteria invoked by the Washington Post and New York Times. Do you still stand by that?

The contagion rates are seriously high, and if* unchecked will go off the charts. That's based on what virtually all governments around the world are saying and the vast majority of scientists, virologists, and epidemiologists. The behavior of governments is unprecedented. I'm amazed you think every country around the globe will self-sabotage their own economies to hurt Donald Trump... in unison.

On another note, I hope you have no elderly relatives. Your total disdain for the more vulnerable in society is actually pretty vile. Good old predatory corporate capitalism at any cost... stick it up your arse.

No, at this point I would slap it away, not because I'm like tented while he is going through his monthly issues, but because I find your whole posture in this affair to be ridiculous. For one thing, I would like to inform you that this is not the first global pandemic in history. It's not even the first pandemic of the 21st century. You are talking as though this is completely unprecedented and the disease is so ferocious that we have no choice but to shut down every major economy in the world until it stops. That is up for debate, to say the least.

The only factor to consider in this affair is not the number of cases. It's also how it will impact millions of people's economically. You want to play the empathy card about old people? Okay, great. Well I have spoken to numerous people recently who have been laid off from their jobs because of this crisis. Do they deserve sympathy or concern? Or is it just your old relatives?

Do not forget how we initially started having this conversation, you said the whole reaction globally was based on hysteria invoked by the Washington Post and New York Times. Do you still stand by that?

For the most part, yes. Their hyping of this crisis is not the only factor in it, but it is a major one. If Obama was president I do not think the global media would have gone this crazy over a relatively small number of cases. For you to deny a political dimension to this is naïve to say the least.

Now does that mean I'm saying every decision by the Italian government is dictated by the Washington Post? No. The virus is obviously real and it is impacting some areas much more than others. But the numbers are nowhere near as scary as alarmists like you are making them out to be.

The contagion rates are seriously high, and if* unchecked will go off the charts. That's based on what virtually all governments around the world are saying and the vast majority of scientists, virologists, and epidemiologists. The behavior of governments is unprecedented. I'm amazed you think every country around the globe will self-sabotage their own economies to hurt Donald Trump... in unison.

No, I think every major media outlet in the West would do that. But what you fail to recognize is that we live in a communications-dominated world now. Everyone is hooked to information streams through their phones 24/7. So the media actually have more power in shaping opinions than governments do. And governments often follow what the media waves dictate.

On another note, I hope you have no elderly relatives. Your total disdain for the more vulnerable in society is actually pretty vile. Good old predatory corporate capitalism at any cost... stick it up your arse.

I do have elderly relatives and they are comfortably safe in their residences. But again, you playing the empathy card like this is ridiculously selective. How about the hundreds of thousands of people who are losing jobs and careers over this? Do they count for nothing? I could just as easily say "I hope you have no relatives who work in service industries. Your total disdain for working people is actually pretty vile. Good old predatory capitalism at any cost....stick it up your arse."

Caring about people's livelihoods is not "predatory capitalism" - except maybe to a stupid Euro-leftist. I am hearing about people all over the place losing their jobs and seeing their companies downsize. I don't think that is a price worth paying in country after country over a disease with a mortality rate of less than 1%.

not often I agree with Tucker these days, but....

Thanks Federberg. I can always count on your clumsy ass to stumble into proving my earlier assertions correct. Right after I make the point to the BrokenGeekBoy that there is immense diversity of thought on the American right and that Broken over-generalizes in the most lazy, ignorant, and bigoted way possible, you post this video showing Tucker Carlson calling out a Republican Congressman.

Point proven, once again. Thanks pal. (But of course I know that the only reason you found out about Tucker saying this is that some left-wing source started circulating this video for partisan reasons - i.e. to bash a Republican Congressman.)

Now if you and Broken were not so clueless, you would know that Tucker Carlson routinely says things like this, being critical of people on both sides of the aisle. He is very intelligent and consistent. I don't always agree with him but he is a sensible voice in the public discourse. So for some utterly retarded and despicable bigot like Bwoken to condemn all of the American right and Fox News without even knowing anything about them is beneath contempt.

Bwoken doesn't even know that most of the people who started the war in Iraq absolutely hate Trump and have routinely condemned him and his administration, especially on foreign policy. Many of them have openly become Democrats and have condemned Trump for being "isolationist" in trying to withdraw from Syria. Nor does Bwoken know that Tucker Carlson has been harshly critical of American intervention in the Middle East, including the limited actions taken by Trump against Iran. Bwoken knows none of this - why? Because he is too lazy to find out and too much of a bigot to even bother looking.

OK, try this version... same video, different channel.

If you can't see this one, then it must be divine intervention.
