Her shoulder seems to be in good shape. She'll look to smoother Halep. I'm sure she respects her.

Yeah Serena is just playing well. I wasn't sure about her shoulder so I didn't pick her to win, but if she continues like this, I don't know who can trouble her. Maybe Kerber, but I doubt it.

Good lord, Simona is fighting for it. I don't think she'll win this one, but she sure has grit.

What a point! Simona is taking to Serena now. And Halep gets the break! Tuck in, folks.

Simona is playing better now, the rallies are longer and despite 3 aces, Serena double faults on a break point.

This is the first time in this tournament that she finds some resistance from her opponent. Simona looks confident now.

amazing match. simona did everything she could -- and serena went on a walk-about...

and then remembered she has to hit her shots actually...lol.
and played again like nothing was the matter. at her best - THAT is SERENA THE GREAT.

nO MATTER how good kerber or anyone is -- and play ''out of their mind"

SO LONG AS SERENA WILLIAMS COMES IN AND THROUGH A MATCH PLAYS AS SHE CAN AND SHOULD -- NO ONE, BUT NO ONE BEATS HER.

it's the only formula. all other arguments do not count.

That was a great match. Simona played like the Simona of old, but the Queen is the Queen as she proved once more.

I hope Serena is too much for Pliskova tonight. And I'd think Kerber could stop Caroline's comeback, but she's got a lot of pressure, including the possible #1. I hope Wozniaki feels she can swing for the fences. But if it ends up being Serena versus Angelique, well, that would be fitting.

Simona said that she played her best match against Serena, so she was happy for that. A very brave effort.

This Pliskova is intriguing, if she serves well, she could pressure Serena a bit. Serena is a big favourite though.

Wow Serena got broken in the 2nd service game. That was quick.

I'm glad Simona felt that way. It was a brave match from her. No shame to lose to Serena, but she left blood and skin on the court. Great effort.
