And Serena gifts her back with a double fault of her own. So tense, both of them. Still some of the greatest points in the whole match.

Wow. That's not the way you thought she'd lose it. Good on Plishkova.

I don't think Pliskova can believe it herself. Out of nowhere she is in a slam final!!!! Well done.

That match last night probably took a lot out of Serena.

So, what's the scouting report on Plishkova? Tall, good serve. What else?

She has a great forehand, and from what I see a solid backhand. Movement is not her strength, but frankly for her height, she does OK with it. I think she needed something to push her into believing in herself and Cinci might have done that for her.

The age is catching up with Serena, no doubt, but she can still win 1 more major next year.

Serena's in her presser now and she's being incredibly elegant about not making excuses. They've tried to offer her many, and she's not having it. She says if she can't do a couple of tough days in a row then she should get a different job.

I think there's more than one Major in her. But so, is this it: Kerber gets the #1?

yeah, Kerber is #1 now no matter what. Serena might get more, but she only needs 1 to stand alone and that is really realistic for her.

I don't see Angie losing this. It's still early but she just looks sharp.

:bye:
Agreed. If Wozniaki were more aggressive, I'd give her a better shot. Her comeback run likely ends here, though I hope she takes positives, going forward.

Woz is looking more aggressive than Angie right now... good service game from her... but still a mountain to climb from a set and a break down.

Short-lived. Nail probably too far in the coffin now.

Yeah, Angie is too solid and Caro has to push it beyond her comfort zone... racking up the UFEs. Angie isn't going to implode either... she's developed into one of the stronger players mentally on the tour.

hello Everybody...

first of all -- i apologize for not being here during the match of serena and plishkova...

i was in a deep cave in a mountaintop - giving offerings with candles and incense trying to fend of the HEXING by A certain Dark Power named Britbox because i know serena was tiring from all this effort at being number one and only her best can do it - but she didn't and I FAILED in my desperate incantations to Deny Britbox his evil influence on the match -- just to spite me.

but that's OK --

HOWEVER -- BECAUSE my serena the great didn't win -- I have lost all joy in watching tennis and so i must announce that I will have to Turn my back on this sport that is so cruel to Serena Williams...now she will NEVER win a scond batch of 22 more majors...and this is very upsetting to me...

i swear -- but first --

have to watch tomorrow's men's semis - and there's some kind of womne's finals on saturday somewhere that sounds interesting...and then it's just disrespectful not to find out who will win the men's finals on sunday and then what will be the state3 of the game the coming months as players try to jockey for 3rd place behind serena now that she has been knocked off from the number one perch -- and then of course 2017 is just a few months away and there's a lot of time after 2018 to see if i should reconsider turning my back on tennis watching forever....

please understand my great sadness today.....that i have to express myself like this..............

but please don't do this to serena again...
