Very happy to see Petra playing well. Too bad she meets Venus next round. I don't want to see either of them knocked out.

What do you mean "you people"?

I simply stated that I haven't met one person who likes Coco.

KS was she comes across as a very entitled and arrogant player. Almost in an "I told you so" manner"

I feel that .she is a very polarizing individual...Everyone has said the same or very similar comments..However , somehow I don't think you are gonna attack KS like you did me..

I know this isn't the first time you have heard this about Coco..

Can you explain the "you people comment" please
I meant you and tossip because you both seemed to think that. Nothing more, AP. Chill.

Moxie, KS said the same thing but you don't classify her as "you people"..

When you classify Tossip and I as "both seemed to think that" ..that's not fair and untrue..Front doesn't like certain players, Darth doesn't like certain players, why don't you classify them as "you people" or as both seemed to think that.

I think you are saying this because of Tossip's calling Muga "garbage".. it's her opinion and I have stated this numerous of times, Tossip has a tendency to be correct because her "data" about a lot of players on both the ATP and WTA players and their team usually turns out to be correct. I don't care for a lot of things Mugu has said previously but I haven't called her garbage.

I clearly explained why I posted that I haven't heard one person I know who watches or participates in the game of tennis have anything but a less than positive opinion of Coco..Overall it's very low.

This is where it starts, the bias against certain posters..when you say That we don't like players without any merit.

Antipusher you are right...Muguruza is passive aggressive and very disrespectful especially toward the sisters...when she won Wimbledon she carried the Venus dish the way Serena did...isnt that mocking ..cant she be original with her celebrations.I dont understand her problem with the sisters its probably racism and jealousy...As for Coco there was no need for that stupid behavior what did Aga do to her except play clever tennis.
Moxie and Kui have always had a bone to crush with me for some unknown reason.

Is it true that Garbage is not in contention for #1 anymore? I think Only Pliskobot, Vee and Svito are in contention. Can any WTA number crunchers present the different scenario?

Venus can get to number one? Wow. Let's have a 37 and a 36 year old at the top of the WTA and ATP!!

Mugu ended Venus' chance of getting #1 when she made the R16. It's between 3 players now, Svito, Plisko and Mugu. Mugu is ahead of both players in points, but here's the way the scenarios shake out.

- Svitolina needs to reach the semifinals in order to have a chance at No.1.

- Pliskova needs to reach the final in order to have a chance at No.1.

- If Svitolina and Pliskova meet in the SF, the winner will take the No.1 ranking.

- If Svitolina does not reach the semifinals and Pliskova does not reach the final, then Muguruza will move to No.1 in the rankings on Monday, September 11.

Pliskova's day at the office lasted 46 minutes this labor day, but the job is not done! She still has more points to defend, she made the finals last year.
I remember her run last year, went through both sisters but lost to Kerber.

Next will be Coco/Lucie

Going by what typically happens in WTA, I think the last option would become the reality.

Hi all,
Does anyone known whether Sloane got a wildcard or did she have to play qualies?
I'm actually really proud of her right now

She has leapt hundreds of ranking points with her good play, after being out of the game for a year.

Not quite true - only Svitolina and Pliskova has a chance to be #1 - Venus is short of 55 points - and that's if she wins US Open

Another more impressive thing is Kaia Kanepi's comeback from a longer injury time. She returned in June and has - during the US Open - been rising through the rankings - 308 places - to a position as #110 - and now in the quarterfinal after the defeat of Kasatkina. She should perhaps have a bit more attention than another player forcing her way back - I like this way much better.

Svitolina just lost to Keys so only one can be in the way for a Muguruza as #1 and that's Pliskova - if she gets to the final she remains as #1. BTW Muguruza is the first to qualify for the finals in Singapore.

She had a protected ranking, so didn't need wildcard or qualies.

I remember Kanepi from a few years ago. She has the skills but lacks mental toughness. Unless the long break gave her stronger nerves, I don't see her winning big.

All I know Kamau Murray has gotten the best out of Sloane. It's good to see a kid from the south side of the Chi doing well. I got to reach out to him to write a blog of this board. I will work on that the next time I am playing at his club or hitting with some of his advanced juniors. I wouldn't be surprised if some of his students break into the USTA rankings and onto both tours.
