Sloane playing well. She is dating her coach? Who is that?
No..her coach is Kamau Murray. Kamau isn't dating Sloane. He is a proper fella with a nice family (wife and kids) from what I hear.

Venus takes the opener and then promptly goes down a break in the 2nd. Now they have closed the roof which favors Petra big time.

I think you are right. I believe she is dating another athlete like a hockey or soccer player. He's been at some of her matches over the summer.

She's dating Josie Altifort...don't quote me on the spelling...he's on the U.S. national soccer team.

Venus and Sloane in the SFs!
All of these narratives have been great...Venus at her age, Kanepi, Sloane, and Keys coming back from injury and showing up.
I'm actually really pleased with the quality of the tennis on the women's side this year.

Coco takes out Pliskobot. This means Garbage is #1.

Also, it looks like we may be on the path to All American Semifinals (the chances of Madison beating Kaneppi is high).

Svitolina just lost to Keys so only one can be in the way for a Muguruza as #1 and that's Pliskova - if she gets to the final she remains as #1. BTW Muguruza is the first to qualify for the finals in Singapore.

Coco did the honor and Mugu will be #1

More interesting is the fact that 4 American women can end up as semifinalists, I don't think that has ever happened.

When was the last time a new WTA #1 was alive in the tourney when she became #1?

It happened back in the 80's.
