Seb Korda wearing a sleeve on his arm in his match and having trouble serving, elbow injury, saw a physio, who gave him 'magic pills, looked at one stage he was going to retire as he was down 2 sets to love against Machac, has stayed on though now looks like he will lose in straight sets sad to say
Machac wins in SS 64 62 64, I must say Machac has a great backhand one of the best on the tour, played well today in his straight sets win, also he has brought back the 'short shorts' back in the mens game, along with Rune, remember those days lol!

Solid straight sets win from Matteo Arnaldi 62 64 64 over Safiullin, Matteo's game does suit the faster HC's.

Jordan Thompson takes out the No 7 seed Hurkacz in straight sets 76(2) 61 75, if my memory is correct I dont think Hubi has got past Rd 2 at the USO, I doubles checked and yes Hubi hasnt made it to round 3 at the USO

The seeds are dropping like flies on both the men & ladies' side of things! Some are quite surprising as they could be coming into NY on a heater, winning an event, but doesn't seem to matter as it once did! Novak's extending his record of being the only player w/ 90+ match wins at every major event! It's now at 90 & counting here in NY as he defeated his countryman Djere who had to retire in the 3rd set last night! ;-)

I wasnt impressed with the level of Novak's play last night, Djere probably should have won the 2nd set., sad he had to retire,

Delighted Machac beat Korda. Didn't realize Korda was injured till I read your post, Margaret. That's unfortunate.

Seb had a elbow injury was wearing a sleeve, when he came on the court, gave him trouble with his serve, I thought at one stage he would retire, trainer gave him some pills, still Machac played well

Yeah I was only watching the scores. Machac may well have won anyway but not likely in 3 I guess.

Nuno Borges is a guy who is riding a lot of momentum. He just took the first set 6-4. With this part of the draw wide open, I could see him going far. Also an opportunity for Mensik to announce his arrival.

Not soo fast I am waiting for a Kokkinakis come back he took out Stef yesterday :) I have always had a 'soft spot ' for Kokkinakis :)
Dosent bode well now for Kokkinakis he just lost the 2nd set 75
Borges is now leading 2 sets to love,
Isnt is always the way after a player takes out a higher seeded player then fails in his next match
Borges d Kokkinakis 64 75 75

Aussie Tristan Schoolkate who received a reciprocal WC for the USO is now up 2 sets to love over Mensik
Tristan a 23yo from Perth in Aussie, came back from 2 sets down against Taro Daniel to win in 5 sets in his first round match
I will stay on this match, as I havent seen him play before
Good response from Mensik cutting down on UFE and serving better, wins the 3rd set 62
Schoolkate leads Mensik 2 sets to 1
2 sets all as Mensik wins the 4th set 76(5)
Going 5 sets

Wow, Carlos is making his life so difficult! He started out in RD. 2 vs Von de Zand. "hot-dogging," running down balls unnecess, in the early stages of this match! After all those acrobatics, he still lost the 1st set 1-6! What an idiot! He throws up a short lob, then literally runs closer to the baseline almost getting hit! This is the same person so concerned about his health, he cut his workout short the other day, but now he's trying to run all balls down like a gazelle! He very well may come back strong to take it in 4, but this is what I'm talking about w/ him! Sometimes you just need to concede a pt. & say "good shot!" He's going to run himself out of the game early! I know I said the same about Nadal, but the ball's traveling a lot faster these days! :angry-face::astonished-face::yawningface::fearful-face::face-with-symbols-on-mouth:
