From missing 3 CH points at Wimbledon to winning the mens Doubles title at the USO, redemption for Aussies Max Purcell and Jordan Thompson who defeated Kravietz/Puetz 64 76(4) ( this is Max Purcell 2nd major), first major together as a team. They are the first Aussie team to win the doubles title at the USO in 28 years.

Tiafoe at his press conference admitted it was 'actually nerves' that hit him more than fatique.Especially being so close during the 4th set.

These US men don't have the cajones to put a top ranked player away, which is why it's been forever and a day since one even reached a slam final, let alone won one.

Well, he's lost 7 straight matches to Fritz now so there's more to it than that. I didn't even realize it was that bad till I saw the stats on tennis.com.

Fronty I knew Fritz had a H2H 6-1 against Frances before their match, Frances has played 5 sets matches before? I thought he had hit a 'wall'
Though being a New Yorker he should be aware at this time of the year, the humidity in NYC, is high, maybe he got ahead of himself, instead of playing point by point, a lot of players make the mistake at looking at the SB instead concentrating on their match at hand.
I also read that Draper who threw up in his match a couple of times, yesterday, said nerves got in the way, he said he can be can suffer from high anxiety at times and has vomited as a result

Fritz broken in the 1st game, but recovers nicely and now leveled the match. If Fritz can keep this level he has a chance. Let's see.

As expected, Fritz will go down gently into the good night and won't rage, rage against dying of the light.

That is why I wanted to see Tiafoe. He has more charisma and his game is more versatile. But still, hard to beat Sinner now even if it was Alcaraz or Novak across the net.

This match is hardly a thriller, for sure.

Yeah, but you're following the scores.
I checked while drying my hair because the only way I was going to continue watching tennis was if Fritz won and that was never gonna happen. RIP tennis. It's over.

I could be wrong, but I think that pretty much wraps up the year-end #1 for Sinner. He really just needs to coast, unless Alcaraz sweeps the remaining big titles, which is unlikely.

Sinner's win gives him 38 PEP for the year. With just two more (two of a Masters SF, 500 final, 250 title, or match win at the TF), he can become the first non-Big Four player to reach 40 PEP since Pete Sampras. Agassi maxed out at 39 ('95, '99), Alcaraz was at 35 last year. Even Andy just had the one year, his incredible 2016 (55 PEP, best for a 1 Slam season).

Regardless of if you care about nerdy stats, it does illustrate just how great he's been this year. Alcaraz has been great as well, but he's been relatively weak outside of Slams; he's at 28 PEP, so still can equal or surpass last year.
