So one of these players will reach the USO SF,

3rd quarter ( Rune-Ruud) initially 3rd rounds,

Tiafoe (10) vs (22) Mannarino
Zhang vs Hijikata
Paul (14) vs (21) Davidovich
Shelton vs Karatsev

A chance for everyone

Shocking; NOT! I think Ruud was lucky to defend those FO points! I knew he wouldn't make it here in NY! The comp. is tough & seeds are getting knocked out left & right! From the 1st round you have to be ready! Strange that they keep saying the era is weak just because Novak's still at the top of the ranks at 36 years old! :astonished-face: :fearful-face:  :face-with-hand-over-mouth: :face-with-tears-of-joy:
Halleluya!!!

It took you long enough, Fiero, to get that epiphany. ; )

I'd say Tiafoe is the clear favorite to make it out of this quarter, having been to the semis at the US Open last year.

That was last year he made the SFs, he hasnt won a tournament on the HC this year, he has SF points to defend, upsets along the way, so far at the USO, we shall see

BTW Dominic Thiem said before he took to the court for his match against Ben Shelton he 'threw up' and felt unsettled in the match before he had to retire, also his breathing became a problem.
Lot of illness around the USO this year
Novak's presence is the difference.

Jack Draper who has just come back to the tour from injury defeats Hurkacz (17) in SS 62 64 75
Hubi had the doctor out, who checked his pulse in the 3rd set,, felt dizzy, Draper a lefty too good in this match.

USO proves hard for the seeded players once again. I'm back home, unlimited internet and cable tv, watching Murray now, he is about to go 2 sets to love down.

Muzz had a chance to break, had BPs in the 2nd set could not convert, Grigor now serving for the 2nd set, I am a bit surprised as Grigor survived a 5 set match the other day, playing well at present
Grigor now up 2 sets to love, Muzz will have to take the scenic route to win.
