Those royals are a good example of what excellent health care will do for you. That queen mother liked her gin and she lived to 103, I think. So Prince Philip died this morning, at the age of 99 the longest serving royal consort.
Considering Prince Philip reportedly drank a glass of beer every day (or 2) and Queen Elizabeth imbibes several stiff drinks daily, (Dubonnet Cocktails like clockwork), it's an example of healthy living through good booze! Those royals are a good example of what excellent health care will do for you. That queen mother liked her gin and she lived to 103, I think.
I hope he follows through. What do you think @Federberg ?Boris is showing not only 100% acceptance of env sciences but also my opinion that most (if not all) of current env problems (such as flagship climate change problem) are really social problems. Even my local newspaper printed his article on this subject:
On the surface it sounds not surprising: fine he just tells the truth, good for him. But when you realise that he is the leader of a conservative party, you must ask a question: what's going on?... Rather than giving an obligatory dose of moronic denial of reality (as his American GOP counterparts and especially their idiot-in-chief would do), he accepts the science and urges to act on science like a greenie with respect to env and like a lefty liberal with respect to social issues. What's going on here? A sign of changing times? Any hope that other conservatives (in OZ, and especially in moronic America) follow the suit and redefine the politics around that topic? In the years to come, the only great powers will be green powers
By 2030 renewables will be undercutting coal and gas almost everywhere.www.smh.com.au
My respect to the brit PM grows after his passionate show. I hope he retains his opinion on the subject long term (after Glasgow COP26 is over) and UK will act on said opinion. I remain sceptical if the omnipotent moronism of American R wing allows them to follow UK's lead, but I'd be happy proven wrong and similar positive political change also happens in America.
The UK's green credentials are an accident of history that has nothing to do with climate change. Basically the Thatcher government in the 80s broke the back of the unions. Particularly the coal mining unions, which resulted in a massive drop in coal consumption in the UK. Successive UK governments have been riding on the back of this accidental green consequence. Bojo is a conservative populist that is trying to hold on to the gains in the left wing heartlands that were a byproduct of the Brexit vote. There is a lot of politics involved here, but yes Conservatives in the UK are on the whole less batshit crazy, and less beholden to energy interests than in more resource rich countries like Australia and the US. There's some sincerity but a whole lot of happenstance and opportunism involvedI hope he follows through. What do you think @Federberg ?
