I don't think I implied that at all, but on the other, yes, it was opportunistic and I think it was to give her a bigger mandate to carry out the Brexit process and also to rubberstamp her own governance... after all, she was never elected as a sitting PM.
She could have won more voters but she put a lot of animal lovers (including me) off voting for her by saying she'd bring back fox-hunting which has killed many horses & dogs as well as foxes.

lol! I bet you got more than you bargained for :D

No doubt about it, I was wondering when the hell you guys would shut the hell up!

But it was instructive, yes. One thing I was wondering, and even if you guys having touch it directly you kind of confirmed it, is that, probably at least as much as anywhere now, the general media is extremely partisan while covering everything. The narratives are simply too different.

No the media isn't as partisan. It doesn't work that way here. There are partisan editorials yes, but the news is still the news thank goodness

These questions are mainly for Brits. What do you think of the new sugar tax? Do you think it will be successful? Is it going to just hit food & drink which is publicly high in sugars or foods with a lot of hidden sugars like sucrose, glucose, maltose, dextrose & malto-dextrins too? If that's the case is milk & fruit going to be hit too as milk contains the natural sugar lactose & fruit contains the natural sugar fructose? Mind you, saying that, they're trying to get us to eat more fruit as it's good for us because of all the vitamins. How will it affect us? They're trying to tackle obesity. Do you think this is the correct way of doing it & will work?

Just saw news about a guy named Tommy Robinson being arrested in strange conditions. The guy seems quite controversial but the whole story is more than strange. Do you guys over there are following this?

Very strange... Robinson was arrested, sentenced within 3 hours of the arrest, apparently without access to a lawyer and jailed for 13 months. The judge ordered a total media blackout on reporting of the case.

Robinson (not his real name by the way) grew up in Luton, home of Anjem Choudhary who was an extreme Islamic preacher. He was jailed previously for mortgage fraud and put on prison wings that were majority islamic. He was smashed up in a cell by 8 people and said he was lucky to escape with his life. Robinson said he was previously approached by the state to be an insider and to "unite the right", which he refused.

In a nutshell, the British Government want him behind bars.

I'm amazed at the fact that he was sentenced so quickly as it normally takes weeks or months for cases to be sent to court & I'm also amazed that it doesn't appear that he had access to a lawyer because the police normally quote people's rights to call them & explain that if you don't have your own they'll arrange for 1 to see you. I've never been in trouble myself but hear about this & my parents often watch programmes about the police in action though they used to watch the bill & we watch repeats of heartbeat what I used to love. Dad's been watching repeats of Dixon of Dock Green recently too. I know that the bill & heartbeat are fictional but they have to put some true bits in to make things realistic, don't they?

They must have really thought him a threat to treat him like that.

Well, he was out on license and deemed to have breached his conditions. I think some of this might be related to the expected release of Anjem Choudhary in October... also on license.

Definitely. They don't want trouble. I'm scared about Anjem Choudhary being released. He's a dangerous man. We don't want him let loose.

I think they needed a bigger revolt to unseat May. Maybe Braverman and Gove. If the EU are stupid enough to bounce out a soft Brexit then they may end up with a hard one... you might see Davis and Boris return to the fold in that scenario as the clock ticks down.

That's not what makes me laugh most about Trump's visit. I've seen the balloons & protest banners. Lol. Seriously though it's not good for our country to have so many protests but I can see the reasons behind the protests & in Edinburgh they don't want him at all & have made it quite clear they don't want him in Scotland at all.
