Venus was quoted after her match "I have nothing else to do, might as well play tennis". What happened to all those outside interest the family was constantly saying the "sisters" had? Time after time they stated they would not always need tennis.

Unbelievable! Drag out the harps and violins! Please have her cry me a river! Nothing like someone in her position to feel sorry for herself while others are starving in the streets!

Serena has Flipkins.

Wow, Surprising to see Flipper has won over

$1 mil dollars in prize money this year and

only $1.9 Mil in her career since 2003.

With only 1 career title.

She is ranked No 13.

Maybe she didn't want to reveal them at that time. And btw, she still has Eleven and V*Starr. Venus likes to keep the reporters guessing!!

Interesting, no one really mentioned or dicussed Caroline losing to Cristea of all people. Or, is it just commentary on how Caroline game has diminished that it's not as big a topic anymore or surprise when she loses?

You can only play who is across from you, and it isn't Serena's fault that Franny is out of shape, and Serena is only a year younger than Franny essentially and is still winning. What is Sharapova's excuse all these years getting beaten by Serena who is 5 years older than her and at times was out of shape when she did beat Sharapova?

Did you watch it?
It wasn't surprising, these two know each other very well and are good friends, they even train together at times...
H2H was 3-2 in favor of Caro before the match, why would you say Sorana of all people? She was very qualified in beating Caro.
I did watch most of the match and as I mentioned above it was very entertaining to watch. Caro had 2 match point in the second set but could not convert, Sorana roared back and won the second set tie-breaker at love!
Caro's play was pretty good but Sorana was even better, Kudos to Sorana for a match well played, she was in the zone!
BTW, who says I don't love brunettes? I couldn't get enough Sorana last night!

I'm sorry you seem to take offense to what I wrote, but, sorry, entertaining match or not, Cristea is one of those players that beats a top player only once, maybe twice a year. I expect this match up to be one where Caroline comes through, and come through plenty comfortably. Cristea swings for the fences and usually hits the fences, literally, Caroline shold be taking advantage of that, especially considering she still somewhat of an "elite" player. I consider it another bad loss.

And so what they are good friends and train together, the Radwanska are even closer and train together, yet Aggie rolls over her sister.

As far as the blonde and brunette thing, it's interesting I only read certain blondes and brunettes are sweet, innocent and charming. So, what, Sloane Stephens, Heather Watson and Madison Keys are not worthy of those same descriptions.

No offense taken Calvy but I do disagree with your presumption that Caro should have easily had this in the bag. How can one presume that when the H2H record is so close? It's all even now at 3-3

I wasn't sure about Caro coming out of her quarter, she lucked out when draw reshuffled because of Vika but I guess not lucky enough.

It's also interesting that you think it's interesting that certain posters like certain players more than others, isn't that the case for you?

"Old and out of shape Francesca" played some excellent tennis for about 20 minutes; she moved Serena around the courts and at one point had her pinned in the corner when she could only defend weakly. Franny just could not keep Serena from punishing her second serves and therefore had many double faults. Nice showing for brief periods of time considering that her best tennis is probably behind her. She is a fighter :clap Not a bad match for two 30+ year olds :)

I'm not talking about a players skill and the game they bring to the table. I'm speaking of looks, and that I only see caucasian girls mentioned as "beauties" "innocent" "sunshine" and "bubbly."

Sloane is quite attractive, as is Heather Watson, Sania Mirza and Madison isn't "bubbly" or "innocent" looking?

Antipusher, she had the tools and athletic skills needed to be a top 5-10 player. She is still young and I believe with a proper coach she could really elevate her game. She does seem to do well on the big slam stages, but loses focus during the smaller tournaments. Is that a product of her training? Can a good coach change that aspect of her nature? I'm not sure. With one victory over Serena during the AO she was crowned the "messiah" women's tennis for America. That is a lot of pressure to place on a 20 yr old.

The over-rated one just pushed #4 in the world to a second set tie breaker!
