And Cibby does it. Serves a service winner and she climbs back from being a set and a break down several times throughout the match. A thrilling finish! 6-7 6-2 7-5

Kerber - Cibulkova 76 26 57 in 2h 56 min in an intriguing match full of faults and exciting games. Bravo ladies and congrats to Cibulkova still unbeaten by kerber who became a 1 pointer.:clap

Other interesting results:

Kuznetsova lost to Davis
Cornet def. Vesnina
Jankovic survived and goes to second round

Now we are waiting for the Venus - Flipkens match

No I'm gone it's a turn off compared to the last match but congrats to Venus for a so so comeback - good luck to her.

Venus and Flip are warming up right now Hoergren. Venus looks so thin to me these days.

Venus is clobbering Flip. Feeds Flip a bagel in the opening set.

Hmmm, people have just dropped this subject like a bad habit! So much for Venus! How does she like eating a bagel? :laydownlaughing :snigger :clap  Alright, make it a bread stick instead!

VERY CONFUSING that venus is playing singles. she doesn't need the money, she needs her HEALTH.

I understand that she loves the game of tennis but this is sad. she needs to retire from singles or take a real break.:s

What happened to Venus? When I left work she was clobbering Flipkens. I just saw the score online and she loses it in 3?

I'm not sure I follow you. What subject are you referring to?

I missed it myself, K, but I hope she isn't doing herself more harm than good by playing these days.

Well you posted, so I gather you can read! Right above my comment, someone was signifying that Venus served up a bagel! Do I need to go on? :nono

She gradually got a lot worse, and by the 3rd was struggling to keep the ball in the court anymore. She looked tired by the 3rd. It was pretty bad, because Flipkens was poor as well, and has clearly not recovered from her knee injury.

I most certainly can read when someone makes their point clear. I still don't understand what you are trying to say.

Thanks Ozza. That's unfortunate she got tired. But it wasn't too long a match. What that tells me is that Venus is good for one set in singles or possibly a set and a half. I don't know if any amount of resting/healing the back will resolve her endurance issue. She's 33 now and slowing down is a part of life. She will need to examine and determine how many more of these early round losses she's willing to sustain.
