Djoker looked strong but I'm still not convinced he's back enough to get to the final here. I actually hope I'm wrong because Roger does owe him an asskicking here.

But I'd say the pressure is on Fed, Rafa is younger and could easily win another few RG's. The motto is the same; X slams for Roger is nothing if the Nadal hits X or more.

Well that pressure is never going away till Nadal isn't completely done winning RG(which nobody knows when it seems the law of averages doesn't work for dull on clay for whatever reason) so Fed doesn't think as much about it as maybe his fans do imo. And Fed's had that pressure for a long time now and if that pressure was an issue no way he would've beaten Nadull at AO 17 in that fifth set 3-2 down with his almost entire legacy on the line. If he can handle THAT LEVEL of pressure then what is playing fakervic on grass who's still on his comeback trail bother him? I feel we have to give Fed some leeway here as he's earned it.

It's not clear to me that Rafa stays playing longer than Roger. And the fact Roger's just signed this new sponsorship deal (which btw takes him to billionaire flirtation) does tend to imply he's planning on being around for a while. As things stand it'll take something pretty cataclysmic for him not to be a factor over the next 2 or 3 years. As for Novak he looks like he's back on the right track. I agree he's not ready to face Roger on grass yet, just like he wasn't ready to face Rafa on clay. But it doesn't bode well for Rafa in the longer term as he now has another major obstacle to more grand slam acquisitions

LOL what? God what a lazy analysis. Fakervic is not equipped to handle dull at RG anymore. Sure he can beat him in a clay MS like Rome or Madrid. At RG? Forget it, nobody can beat him there. He's gone 2 consecutive years now without dropping a set at 30+ YO. It's video game like dominance so it'll take a bloody miracle for someone to beat him there. Certainly freaking Thiem isn't going to do it. So who else can? Wawrinka tried and miserably failed in 17. Who else you got?

And we can't trust faker to take out dull at USO, that surface is blue clay now. So don't count on that just yet. I don't know why Fed fans are living under this false illusion that dull is going to abruptly stop winning slams. LOL! He's too obsessed with the slam record, he doesn't even want to have kids or get married because of it. It's a crazy obsession which your post doesn't account for.

It's not a given but rumors of Rafa's demise (health-wise) have been greatly exaggerated by all of us. He had a knee issue at the end of last year that went a bit into this year but aside from that we are going back to 2012-2013 (IF that was an actual knee issue and not something else). He's had other ailments here and there especially with his wrist which may actually be a bigger threat to his career than his knees at this point. Point is Rafa isn't really showing signs that he is falling apart. Neither is Roger but the guy is going on 37 and has 4 kids. Way different than Rafa.

Absolutely nothing is wrong with dull's health. He's good for another 2-3 years ATLEAST. The guy has his entire post-prime ahead of him and the field on clay is an absolute abomination.

Look, Nadal can play C,D,E maybe F level of tennis at RG and he'll still win there. THAT is the biggest problem. Plus he gets joke after joke after joke draw. I mean look at his first week draws at RG. Has he ever got a tough one besides RG 11 when he got Isner in Rd 1? I seriously don't know any.

And the best part is Nadull will start skipping more and more tournaments as he ages just like Fed is doing as he gets closer and closer to the slam record. He'll focus almost solely at RG in the next 2 or 3 years as he gets weaker and weaker.

You guys have no idea how obsessed this clay vulture is with Fed's slam record. In his little egoistical brain, he's worthless if he doesn't have it.

The biggest wish of all Federer's fanatics is that someone can stop the great Nadal to reach the Roger's numbers :finger:

Lol! I'm not sure the kids are relevant mate. Unless you mean from a motivational stand point? Well I'll flip it around. I think he, and particularly Mirka, wants to win when his kids are old enough to appreciate it. He'll be around for a while. As for Rafa. I didn't necessarily mean his quitting before Roger. I'm just talking about still being relevant. At the moment there don't seem to be any real rough riders out there, but they could appear in a flash and take both Roger and Rafa out of the slam winning picture. I think the odds of that happening are increasing now. We... Fedal fans... have to brace ourselves for that. All it takes is for a Kyrgios or someone like that to have a good run and really start believing in themselves and it could be over just like that

LOL doesn't apply to dull on clay. Forget beating dull at RG, players can't even take a set. :lulz1:

Your post is basically ideal scenario. Reality is completely different. Sorry to tell you that mate.

Stop the great Nadal to reach Fed's #'s is not my biggest wish. I want him to win # 9 at Wimbledon. One GS at a time. Al the rest will take care of itself. Nadalites need to take a breath because Fed is the GOAT.
I'd better say Fedelites should take a breath, I see a lot of worries and I don't know why, Federer is the best grass player at least looking his numbers, his draw is very light to reach the finals so all of you should be very confident and relaxed

This crap doesn't play like grass at all, the high bounce is much more like clay. If it did play like proper grass then Nadal would be fishing back home already.

I completely agree with this. I'm simply not worried about Rafa getting to Roger's numbers. Never really been that concerned to be honest. I just want Roger to keep on winning and I think he has a few more in him. I think he's the stand out favourite at SW19, he might stumble, but he's who I would put my money on, and I think even most Rafa fans would do the same here. As for the rest... folks go on about Rafa catching up with Roger. That's a 3 slam gap. It seems close, but winning a slam, last time I looked is darn hard to do. And it's going to get tougher. I'll expend my energies hoping for Roger to keep winning. I'm not going to invest a single joule worrying about what Rafa does. It's negative, it's anti-sport, and frankly it implies a level of insecurity that just isn't my gig. If by some amazing journey Rafa is able to do it, I'll bow down and praise him. To be honest I praise him anyway. There's a certain poster on here who has been infesting the World Cup thread as well who I just don't understand. This is sports. It's the uncertainty, the thrill and the despair that I love. And in a way I'm glad that Rafa has been around to make the journey interesting. I'm not sure I would have enjoyed Roger as much if Rafa wasn't around. And I suspect most sane Rafa fans feel the same way

The "crap" started in 2002 and I haven't seen Federer has played bad on it, on the contrary that 'crap' has gone very well with him

He'd be doing a hell of a lot better if it was proper grass and it's becoming progressively worse every year in terms of bounce. The conditions this year are perfect for your fisherman.

I think in a couple more years they will be more relevant if they aren't already. They are 9 and 4 now, so the girls are old enough to know what their dad is accomplishing and the boys will be in a couple years as well. I think it'd take multiple threats to really force Roger out, and not sure what could emerge that knocks Rafa out as a serious contender at RG. That's the problem in all this, the very real possibility that Nadal gets 14-15 RG's when all is said and done.

You should see what Laver just said about the grass and how much Rafa likely would've struggled on it. Under proper conditions the Wimbledon "score" would likely be Roger 10+ to Nadal's 0

It's here - https://indianexpress.com/article/s...-snagged-rafael-nadal-says-rod-laver-5251161/

The telling part of Laver's quote in case you're lazy to read the full article -

“The ball kept lower and the bounce was uneven. You couldn’t hit topspin like he does when you can’t trust the bounce. “We were scraping it out of the ground half the time. So no, I wouldn’t have thought Rafa could have played like he does then. Roger (Federer) maybe could have done it, he could have adjusted himself. “Wimbledon’s courts were always the best but the bounce was still uneven, and the baselines were just loose dirt.”

LOL RIP Nadull.

Again, as more I read your comments as more I see you (Roger's fans) a little bit nervous. Don't be, he is the goat :p

Possibly but it was dark on both sides of the net. Stupid Wimbledon didn't have lights, and they also have a garbage surface now.

Yes, it was dark on both sides. But, people keep saying this as though it somehow makes everything fair. It is not. If it rains, it rains on both sides why don't they continue to play. If it snows, it snows on both sides, why don't they continue to play. The basic point here is that there is a reasonable expectation that tennis would be played under normal conditions and normal conditions certainly encompass having enough lighting.

The Wimbledon final match ended at 9:15 in dark conditions. It was held on 6th July 2008. On 6th Julye 2018 (note that it is the very same day and so difference in sunset timings if any would be negligible), the match between D. Novak and Milos Raonic was stopped at 9 :00 p.m. and that too when the score was one set all and 6-5 for Milos in the third. Note that the score was not even even.

The supervisor told them that they have determined that the conditions are suboptimal. They told the players that the tournament would prefer to stop it right now, but if both players agree, they would let them play one more game. They were also told that, in the event the score becomes 6-6, they will not be allowed to play the tie-breaker on the same day, even if both players agree. The reasoning was that the tie-breaker is going to determine who wins the second set and thus is a key factor in determining who wins the match. They did not want such an important tie-breaker being played under sub-optimal conditions.
