I liked series 3 because he met his match in Putin - er, "Petrov" - and the end was great. Kinda mid-sentence. I dunno if they can do much more though, I was expecting it to end in series 3.

That was a great episode and I like the way DD and Fisk both are idealists but only one of them is evil. I wonder when DD is gonna actually visit a tailor and get some snazzy threads. It cool to wear black, but a man in a pair of tights and some face make-up?

It'd scare the bejaypurs outta me! :eyepop

EDIT: Deborah Ann Woll reminds me of Olivia Wilde, must be the eyes...

WARNING: House of Cards spoiler below

Yes they sure did a great job of making Petrov into a Putin, I thought the same thing watching it. Highlights of the season were Petrov and the couple crazy intense and awesome fights between Francis and Claire in episodes 6 and 13.

So sad to hear about the young man formerly played one of the twin boys in Everybody Loves Raymond committing suicide. Just 19 years old. Tragic..

Without giving anything away, how are people finding the last stretch of Mad Men?

I'm still playing catch-up but I must say, this show has kept up an incredible standard throughout...

With only two to go, I'm pleased with the final episodes -- but there's not much else I can write without including spoilers. :-/

No worries, brother, thanks for that.

I see on iMDB the last two eps got 9.3 and 9.2, so the standard is obviously high. I'm working on series 6 now, trying to get up to speed so I can watch the finale with everybody else... ;)

Without wanting you to give anything away, it doesn't seem like anybody knows how it's going to end, but I did see suggestions that there could be a happy ending, or else Don may revert to his old ID, or take on another one. It's a brilliant, classy, mysterious show. Watching series 5, when Peggy said she was jumping ship, just after they got the Jaguar contract, the scene between Don and Peggy, and the way it ended, was Oscar material, forget about the Emmys...

I still enjoyed this season of House Of Cards tremendously, but the writing has been a bit of a mess. A step down from seasons 1 and 2. Yes, I like their focus on character development, but some of the plot lines were just hard to swallow, and I realize the show always suspended disbelief.

I watched the penultimate episode last night. Erm ... we need to talk ...

Let us know when you've caught up.

Just finished series six. What a sad ending! :(

Series 7, Part 1, from the library tomorrow. What's all this, "Part 1" mullarkey, with AMC? They did the same with Breaking Bad, didn't they? Mad Men was always a great slow burner through the season. Can that work, with two half seasons?

SPOILER ALERT: IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THROUGH SEASON/SERIES 6 OF "MAD MEN" DON'T READ BELOW!

If I remember correctly, there were two endings to that episode: one was when they voted to force Don to take time off, and then a coda involving taking his kids to see where he grew up. I'm assuming you're referring to the latter, correct?

I think it was a mistake. It ruined the rhythm of the overall arc, in an obvious effort to stretch it out to make more money. Getting back into it, mid-season, but a year later, was far from ideal.

Basically both endings. I think Don is a complex man, very much a mystery, but I found both endings to be the perfect conclusion to the season. I'll start #7 tonight! :)

That's interesting about the split series. I can't think why they'd do it, other than the moolah. Mad Men always benefitted from a very long slow burning arc..

Mad Men ended. I watched it end. In the history of endings, it was historical. Remember the great open-ended ending of The Sopranos? There was a lot of flutter on Twitter about how Mad Men might end the same. The two endings had something in common: both were genius endings. Mad Men is a unique show. You hear people brag about character-based shows all the time, but this one is more complex, or mysterious. Not many people know why it works. No guns or violence. No cliffhangers. Sales pitches that look like works of art. A lead character that's charismatic, venal, carnal, and deep.

I'm gonna miss this bass turd :( . If you haven't watched it, you've missed it too. I'll go at it all again later in the year...

Anybody here watch Bloodline on Netflix? I watched two eps, it's dark and has a great cast, great characters too, but not sure it has enough to sustain 13 eps. Has me curious, though...

First time ever, I was wrong. :snicker

This has grown into a very disturbing show, taking old tropes such as the dysfunctional family, the diseased American Dream, the prodigal son, the abusive father, family secrets that come into the daylight eventually, and made them into a great dark tale.

I recommend it to anybody who has Netflix, but prepare to feel furious, threatened, appalled, and be swept away the tour de force cast, which includes Sissy Spacek and Sam Shepherd. There's a very old cliche about the Dark Underbelly of the American Dream, but this one gets it right, and it's addictive. I found maybe the first 3 eps to be slow, but since then it's been spiralling out of control, so the lay-up of those three eps is paying off.

It's the third Netflix show I've watched: House of Cards, Daredevil, and Bloodline. They have another new show, Sense8, which is getting good reviews too...
