well I got this one wrong. I thought Andy might be able to capitalize on his opportunity in the final.

he had a great start by snatching the first set.

it is not about Lendl. it is really about Andy. he fights without owning a dominating forehand.

now compare that with djokovic. who has a dominating forehand and a dominating backhand.

his fitness and physicality and his movement is second to none.

Andy can compensate for his weaker wing by doing other things well. so clearly he has work to do.

without Lendl, he came up second best. Each and every time, on the biggest stages. No exceptions, forehand or not.

You and me get somewhere? shhhhh....if you really are desperate, be discreet about it i.e. pm or email. Subtleties remember? :lol3:

just show my appreciation for your compliance to being subtle, as suggested. well done :good:

Not much of an admission, but at least the bluster came off. Now, if you could only work a little harder at the subtleties and not treat every feminist as a cliche, we might get somewhere.

Lol! I wouldn't bother Moxie. You're either trying to interact with a child, or a seriously immature individual. He's quite entertaining actually :D

Lendl says it was a change in his own family situation and disdain of airports that caused the initial split.

The eight-time Grand Slam winner has been catching up with the world number nine in New York ahead of the US Open, and he is quoted by the Daily Telegraph as saying: “Just doing 20 weeks a year was hard for me.

"And you know, with Andy, after his back surgery and after winning Wimbledon and all that, I felt that if anything he needed more time rather than less time.

"Everyone is different, and when you win a big tournament like Wimbledon, it’s not easy sometimes. Some people find it more difficult than others, and I’m glad Andy found Amélie who can give him the time he needs.”

Maybe Murray could compromise and bring in Ivan for 12 weeks a year - 1 week prior to a major and then the period during the tournament.

Andy can compensate for that weaker wing:

1. bigger and better first serve
2. bigger and more effective 2nd serve
3. take the fitness and the physicality to the next level
4. become more confident and more effective going forward. he is nearly 6 foot 4. take advantage of that reach.
5. get tougher mentally. just don't give an inch. fight to the death for every point.
6. better control of the center of the court

lets face it: you cant beat djokovic from the baseline unless you are prime clay warrior (rafa) or near prime clay warrior.

so you must be rock solid and confident and effective in all other areas

I am happy with the new development.

Lendl and Andy always stayed in touch. they worked well together.

still don't know where you go to get a dominating forehand at this stage of the game.

can you imagine if Andy had that Lendl forehand?

Thankfully, Murray does not have Lendl's grass game. :lol3:

Lendl made two Wimbledon finals losing to two of the best grass court specialist at the time, so not sure how that makes Murray so much better in comparison. Andy made 2 finals winning 1 against a fellow grass grinder while lost to a real grass specialist, not that amazing in comparison.

Becker was an excellent grass court player, and he was also pretty good on indoor carpet.

Cash only ever won three tournaments on grass (one of those beating Lendl in 1987), so I'm not sure how you consider him one of the best grass court specialists at that time. Murray's won five titles on grass.

Why Ivan Lendl? Novak Djokovic coach Boris Becker surprised by Andy Murray decision

&NCS_modified=20160618123913&MaxW=640&imageVersion=default&AR-160619135.jpg

Boris Becker, coach to world No 1 Novak Djokovic, concedes he was surprised to see Andy Murray reunited with Ivan Lendl.

“I was a bit surprised, I must say," Becker told the BBC. “I think [Jamie] Delgado did a good job. Andy’s never played better on clay."

if you don't know Cash at least read about him. The guy was undisputedly one of the best grass courters in the 80s, and his playing time was limited due to many injuries and his career was relatively short. Everyone knew how good he was on grass, you need to dig deeper than 'oh but he only won 3 grass tournaments'..... pretty lame.

Becker is just an ignorant fool who got lucky with his gig with Djokovic. Djokovic can do it all and has all the motivation in the world.

this just shows how ignorant he is.

andy and lendl stayed in touch all along. andy is comfortable with Lendl's style of coaching and advising.

lendl is competent and bright. has a great analytical mind. I am glad he is in andy's corner.

this match (andy and lendl) was going to happen again sooner or later.

Andy just improved his chances of doing well at Wimbledon.

he needs the right draw and he has to avoid long matches early in the tournament.

say that to Boris in person and you might re-enter the hospital

Gotta give Becker some credit though. Djoker was NOT doing well when Boris joined him, and you can't just ignore the difference since then. I don't buy that the guy just got lucky, he is after all a champ and got champion's mind. Edberg, Lendl and Chang all did well with their players and it's no coincidence, i don't buy the notion of a 'fluke', your dislike of him is too obvious.

but Lendl is no magic pill, just a week of coaching and we are talking Andy winning Wimbledon? seriously?
