I'm not sure if he's the next great hope for Spain, but Iñigo Cervantes has a fantastic name.

With his final triumph against Federer in the ATP Finals, Novak Djokovic has ended a dream season. But the question we could ask if it was really the best. If you want to know the answer to this great question click here

Oh, so it is Iñigo spelled?

Thanks for that. Lovely name indeed.

Some fans calculated that it is impossible for No1e to lose #1 until 19 April even if he is not wining any points by then. I think it is unlikely for No1e to drop down before the end of Wimbledon which is mid July and around 206 weeks on #1.

The finalists in the Challenger Tour both post a new career high.

The CTF was a very disputed match between the 2 of them for the title, Cervantes saved 2 MP to defeat Munoz-De La Nava: 6-2, 3-6, 7-6.

Well done by both of them.

Can someone clarify, are the "year-end rankings" after the WTF or after the Davis Cup? I'm fairly certain they aren't Dec 31.

The ranking is fluid until there are events. ATP events have concluded with ATP finals, but other events, challengers and futures are still modifying the rankings, although not in the upper echelon.
Last week there were some changes in the bottom section of the top 100, because 5 of the top 8 who competed at the challenger tour finals were ranked in the top 100, also Ivan Dodig won a challenger which helped him to get back into the top 100.
I have to check when the challenger and future tour comes to a stop, or vacation.

EDIT: these events which are still going are ITF events. But they influence the ranking because that is common with the ATP.

Another GOAT record coming in sight. B-)

The technically correct answer for your question is neither, as correctly explained by herios.

But, the short answer is after the Davis Cup is over as the challengers and futures do not
affect the big boys. But, even there very rarely does DC alter the top 10 rankings.
Hyptohetically speaking, if Roger had won the WTF, Roger would have been ranked #2 at
the end of WTF, but it would not be his year end ranking as Murray would have overtaken
him by earning his 275 points at DC (as Roger's lead would have been less than that).

With Murray defending finalist points at the AO and Federer a paltry 3rd after his poor loss to Seppi last year it's quite likely Murray will be back where he belongs at number 3 pretty soon.  Federer is hardly losing in the 3rd round again and can potentially gain a ton of points whereas how confident are people that Murray will reach the final again?

^Yeah, but Murray has the important #2 seed at the AO. Anyway I rather see Federer facing Djokovic in a semi rather than in a final. The interesting battle, I would guess, is for the #4 spot. Common sense suggests to put your money on Nadal, but Wawrinka may well go deep at the AO, so let's see. About the others... I'll just believe it when I see it...

I think though that Novaks semi record is better than his GS final record unfortunately. I expect Murray to end the year at no 2 again, although he might drop a position after the AO.
