Surely Novak has set the unofficial record for points now? He defends 6 masters and 3 slams and reached the finals of another slam and 2 other masters. And undefeated WTF champ. It hardly gets better than that.

Wow an ATP 500 win almost gets you into top 100.  I didn't notice that before.  The youngsters should really target these to boost their ranking.  Steve Johnson is now #33, must be his highest ranking yet?

I like to see that #1 has more points than #2 and #3 combined.

Yes, #33 is career high for Johnson.

As some of you remember from the Frontier Forum, I like to keep track of who manages to reach career highs and at what age.

This week that was the case for: Benoit Paire, Steve Johnson, Aljaz Bedene, Hyeon Chung and Austin Krajicek.

YES. I would very much like if you could continue that tradition here as well, my friend. :good:

Good for Paire, Johnson, Chung and the other two guys that I don't know that well. Is Bedene the Slovenian who is now British? or did I mix him with somebody else?

LOL what did you use for that head nod? I like it. The two coach thing is working great now that all wrinkles are ironed. ;-)

Ditto @herios - always liked those posts. Would be good if you could cut and paste them here too.

With the final appearance in Basel, Nadal gets to 190 points behind Berdych for the #5 spot in the rankings tomorrow.  And he has nothing to defend for the rest of the year.  Berdych defends SF points in Paris (360,) and Novak is his potential QF opponent.

Roger will get his #2 ranking back on Monday, the 2nd of Nov.

However, Andy is leading Roger in the race by 620 points. So, the only way Roger can retain his #2 ranking on Monday, the 9th of Nov (which will be used for seeding purposes at the WTF in London)
is for Roger to win Bercy ( a tall order though).

So, for all practical purposes Roger would be ranked #3 at WTF and would have 50% chance of being in Novak's group. On the surface, it looks like a bad situation. But it probably is not. By being in the same group it is assured that Roger would not have to face Novak in SF. I think this assurance
has more significance in the grand scheme of things.

I think 5 wouldn't be bad, given that it's been a terrible year. 4 is still within reach, but unlikely. It'll keep, there's no hurry...
