New career highs this week:

10. Kevin Anderson 29y
51. Aljaz Bedene 26y
54. Hyeon Chung 19y
65. Denis Kudla 23y
97. Austin Krajicek 25y

Kevin Anderson is breaking into the top 10 at 29y, similar to what Mardy Fish did at the same age a few years ago.
A newcomer in the top 100, an American Krajicek, after an outstanding play in Tokyo (he is mainly a challenger player)

Well done by Anderson. Didn't realize he'd entered the top 10. Well deserved after a decent couple of months. While he didn't beat Novak at Wimbledon, he gave him a hell of scare there and really took it to Murray at the USO.

Bernie (Tomic) is #20 in the world right now and took down Ferrer rather handily today in Shanghai. :clap

I like the fact that Bernie steps up now, when Kyrgios is all the Aussie media talks about.
Nicks tantrums will serve Bernie well, he could even end up looking the good boy;)

Making Tomic look good: Kyrgios' greatest accomplishment.

Tennis Australia is a white hot mess. Bernie excoriates them, they push back and cut him from the DC tie with Kazakhstan and then try to make nice to play the tie with the UK. :nono

Must be nice for Tomic to have the attention off of him for a little bit. Thanks Nick.

If Djokovic wins Shanghai, he would hold almost a 8,000-point lead over Murray. That is beyond insane.

True. But given he's beaten him 8 out of the last 9 times it's probably about right!

Just an observation of this aging club, comes Monday, with Tsonga returning to the Top 10 and in the mean time observing that Tomas Berdych turned also 30, the top 10 will have 5 members 30years +:
Roger, David, Stan, JW and Tomas.

So, it is official finally. #1 > 2 * #2

Novak has 16,785 points. Murray has 8250 points. Twice Murray's points would be 16,500.

I would like to see if Tomic manages to get into the top 15 as he has mentioned as his short term goal and also if Benoit Paire gets into the top 20.

Paire just three spots outside of the top 20, and Tomic just three from his goal of top 15. Sweet!

Top 15 for Bernie and top 20 for Benoit is almost a given, let's see when.
Interestingly, despite there are 3 events concurrently this week, Paire ranked 23 is playing in a challenger in Brest (France). Rare instance to see someone ranked as high playing in a challenger.

Maybe he's just a Brest fan! :snicker
