He probably read it here no doubt 'cos he's not the brightest chap when you listen to the crap he says during matches.

Well at least he got off the "Rafa's 'The GOAT'" nonsense! I never believed that; even with his superior H2H record over Roger! All players have someone that isn't a good match up; even Rod Laver! I read somewhere that he lost his 1st 8 matches to Lew Hoad! Nastase hated playing Ken Rosewall, and old man in Laver still owned Arthur Ashe! Sampras was on his last legs and hadn't won a tournament in over 2 years when his pigeon met him in the '02 USO! He won their first and last meetings as pros at the USO; '90 & '02 respectively! :p  :dodgy: :cover

Federer at least matching his sf last year and murray losing a round earlier means Federer can hold onto world no2 rank at least until he Asian swing.

Also, last year Andy went on a tear beginning with the Asian swing (as he was worried about getting qualified for London) and so Andy has lot of points to defend in the Asian swing. So, Fed will probably be still #2, coming out of Asian swing as well.

Murray isn't too concerned about those points. He's only playing a couple tournaments between the Davis Cup and the WTF.

Even though it seems a lot; Andy's doing the minimum! No biggie; newlywed! :hug  :dodgy: :basiate

Andy won more points indoors in Europe rather than the Asian swing. He won Valencia and Vienna nad Shenzen, so 2 in Europe and one in Asia.

Coming Monday, a change in the top 10 distribution, only for the second time all year long.
With the exception of week of 23 Feb. 2015, when for a week only Cilic slipped out of the top 10 being replaced by Grigor, the whole year the same 10 players were in the closed club.
On Monday, Cilic will drop out from the top 10 dropping to 14, being replaced by Gilles Simon, who is returning there after almost 6 years, last time Gillou was in the top 10 was October 2009.

Surprised that Gilles snuck up there again. Didn't really grab my attention. Maybe it's because he didn't offer the usual expertise and thoughtful insight in the socioeconomical, psychological and philosophical aspects of allowing women to publically engage in athletic competitions.

1. If Roger wins on Sunday, Roger would go ahead of Andy to #2 in race rankings as well; at present he is trailing by about 650 points. (He is already #2 in regular rankings).

2. Independent of what happens on Sunday, Roger has a very good chance of finishing as YE #2, as Andy Murray has announced that he plans to play only DC, Shanghai, Bercy and London for the rest of this year. (Roger will be playing Basel in addition).

Nole opened a lead over the field after this win of 6600 points :D

We can be sure of one thing, the Number # 1 ranking will be not available for sometime.

Kevin Anderson is awfully close to the Top Ten. Even if it is just for a cup of coffee, I hope he makes it there.

Nadal, Ferrer, Cilic locked for the battle for the last two spots at the WTF. I think Nadal and Cilic will make it.

Nadal is secure in my opinion. He is ranked 7, about 1400 points ahead of Gasquet, who is ranked 9.
Ferrer could be caught, but Cilic is not the top candidate to do so. Right now Gasquet and Isner are.

Yes, you are right. The ATP site was not updated when I looked at the normal rankings page this morning. Still included the US Open points.

You noticed that, too. It's what caused me to be so late updating the rankings.

I'd like to see Gasquet make a move up to the top 8. I'm surprised he only has 2,490 points, he won 2 tourneys this year and got 720 for Wimbledon SF and 360 for USO QF. He must have a ton of 1st round losses aside from those results.
