By my calculations, Andy Murray has tonight secured a top 4 seeding for the French Open.

Raonic, Berdych, Nishikori, Nadal and Ferrer will compete for the other top 4 seeding position but if Kei beats Daveed this evening that will put a pin in his already miniscule opportunity.

Raonic has pulled out of Rome, he will not be in the mix for the top 4.

I've been waiting for the Live Rankings to change and they're still lagging behind! - http://live-tennis.eu/ - Strange! :puzzled :nono - Both Murray and Nishikori still posting as being in the SF!

Nope, they have moved forward, not lagging behind. They have taken out already the points for last year Rome, therefore it is not accurate at the moment, because Rome masters has not started yet.

Shouldn't they have waited until Monday to drop the Rome points? As it stands, it's nearly impossible to figure out what's what.

I agree with you, but I am not part of the committee so I am unable to tell you why they did it.
At the moment, people should not use it, until at least Monday.

I thought that is the point of "live" rankings as opposed to official rankings. As soon as the draw
is out, they add 10 points for folks and also remove last years pts. It does makes sense for
a "live" page.

I also understand your complaints as Madrid is not over yet. But, that is the whole philosophy of live
rankings.

Anything short of a outright win in Rome, Rafa will be ranked outside of top four and will be
seeded as such in RG.

If I recall correctly, Rafa has never been seeded below 4 at RG. One year, he was ranked #5 going into RG. But, fortunately for him Andy skipped RG, making Rafa the #4 seed.

There is a mathematical possibility of Rafa dropping below top 8 by the end of next week.
But, the chances of it actually happening are extremely small considering Rafa's draw at Rome.
The draw looks fairly kind and Rafa should reach finals, IMO. Even if he does not reach finals,
he should be able to go sufficiently deep to prevent falling out of top 8 definitely.

Is this joy I'm getting from others here that the end may be near for the "clay king?" People are actually musing about him dropping out of the top 8; MON DIEU! :p :ras:  :dodgy:

If Rafa does not win RG, he will definitely drop out of top 8, he may even drop out of top 16
depending on how early he loses at RG.

But, the silver lining for Rafa is he has virtually nothing to defend after RG and so can potentially can climb his way back to top 8. But, his lower seeding will surely make life difficult for him at Wimby and NA hard courts.

I think he was the fifth seed. Or ranked 5th but seeded 4th?

Right, he was ranked 5, seeded 4. Hewitt, ranked 2 withdrew

New career highs this week:

4. Milos Raonic 24y
30. Nick Kyrgios 20y
33. Jack Sock 22y
45. Victor Estrella Burgos 34y
69. Hyeon Chung 18y
95. Ruben Bemelmans 27y
98. Thanasi Kokkinakis 19y

One more teenager breaks into the top 100, Kokkinakis, joining Coric and Chung.
Milos Raonic 4 ranking will be short lived, he will drop after Rome being absent with foot surgery and thus he will not be defending his points (SF in Rome last year).

Rafa is virtually assured of a top 8 seed in RG. The only way he can fall below 8 is if he exits right in his opening match AND Stan wins outright in Rome.

AS much as the FO official say they wouldn't alter the seedings, we all know if Rafa were to have all that bad luck happen, he would be receiving an honorary higher seed; at least #8 (probably #4)! Who are we kidding? :p :snicker

What happens if Rafa wins Rome? Top 4 again, depending on who he beats?
