Nadal fans most likely did, because he played him in the second round in MC.

Novak who is #1 at race has more points in race than the points that #2 guy and #3 guy have together. Embarrassing state of affairs.

Yes it is. At least it has quieted talk of another Fed run at year end #1! :snicker

^Lol! That might have come from some Fedfans (not me), it seems obvious to me that it's not a priority for Federer at this point

I have friends at the tennis club who are feddies, and they were just about salivating at the possibility of Roger clinching the YE#1 for 2014. It was rather interesting to be on the court with them after Nole had secured it for himself. Again, before Oz, a lot of talk was around Roger's chances of it this year. Let's just say the conversation has shifted to our local football team.

Each year Mr Vavrinec's fans pretend he's going to be N°1 again and (of course) he'll win Wimbly !!!
It's a old song and it never happens.

^ I don't remember seeing any think he'd finish #1 this year. And none thought it possible until Fall last season when he actually did have a chance before crashing out of Paris early.

As for Wimbledon, I guess "never happens" =3 years ago. Regardless, it's past time Roger shows he can still play there and at New York, especially the latter.

I think you are confusing Cincinnati with New York. I even forgotten when Roger was last time in a final in New York, it was THAT long time ago.

While Novak has distanced himself in both races, the other 3 of the Big 4 are not really shining this season. While the other raking, the ATP official ranking still has them as 2-3-4, the other one, reflects a tight race for positioning in the top 10.

It looks like there is a big 1 right now.

Even Federer in his best days didn't rule like this; 4 major wins before May (AO & 3 Masters)! Looks like 2011 will only be a footnote in comparison if this plays out like it looks; Nole not at his best, but still finding a way to keep on winning! Sampras was never this dominant! I didn't think anyone would come close to what Federer could do in a single season, but Nole's threatening it! :popcorn :eyepop :p

How am I confusing Cincy with New York? At one place Roger has continued to do well, at the other he has badly flamed out and underachieved for the past 6 years including 2 ridiculous losses to Djokovic. Thus my comment that it's past time he shows up big in New York.

Rafa is defending 3600 points for the next three tourneys he's entering starting Madrid, things could get ugly. He has around 5400 points now.

That's not really true. Sure, Fed has never had a start like this, but he's certainly "ruled" in a similar manner for periods of equal time, even longer.

By my calculations, the very best seasons in the Open Era are (in chronological order):

Laver 1969: 4 Slams, 18 titles
Connors 1974: 3 Slams, 15 titles 93-4 (96%)
McEnroe 1984: 2 Slams, Masters Cup and WCT, 13 titles, 82-3 (96%)
Federer 2006: 3 Slams, WTF, 5 Masters, 12 titles, 92-5 record (95%)
Djokovic 2011: 3 Slams, 5 Masters, 10 titles, 70-6 (92%)

There are a few more in there worth considering: Guillermo Vilas' disputed 1977, Borg's 1980, Wilander's 3-Slam 1988, a couple of Sampras' years, Roger's 2004-05 and 2007, and Rafa's 2010 and 2013, etc. But those are the top 5, in my opinion, and the bar against which Novak is competing.
