Wimbledon is a tough call because I think with Novak, Murray and Nadal you need to take into account who has been the most consistent over the last couple of years.

I would have Novak as the top seed (though it will be Nadal)
Then Murray
Nadal at three
Federer at four
Wawrinka at five
Berdych at six
Ferrer at seven

It will be pretty simple. Wimbledon will take the world ranking and then apply their formula based on a player's grass-court form over the past 2 years. I think Novak will be the top seed. Murray will be top 4.

Murray is up to fifth in the world rankings as of tonight. Combined with a runners up appearance and winning last year I would think he would be at least 3, maybe even second seed for Wimbledon

I'm just happy with top 4. :)

Murray seems to be finding his form at exactly the right time. Can Nadal sustain his level though, I wonder just how much the clay season has taken out of him this year

The seedings for Wimbledon should be

Djokovic
Nadal
Murray
Roger
Stan
etc.

In all likelihood, after the French, Nadal and Djokovic will have a similar number of points, but Novak's final run in Wimbledon last year will put him ahead either way as Rafa has no grass points of note for two years.

The ordering of Federer, Murray and Stan is a bit more tough to call. Federer and Murray are the two previous champions so they should both be ahead of Stan, but if they're only counting last summer's grass results, Stan will stay ahead of Roger as Roger's best was 250 in Halle, Stan's 150 in s-Hertogenbosch. And if they're accounting for the last two years, do they factor in Murray's Olympic Gold and 2012 Wimbledon runner up points and therefore shuffle him ahead of Federer? I'm not entirely sure how it works but what I originally posted was what I feel would be a balanced representation.

Wimbledon’s seeding formula, for the men, takes a player’s entry ranking points on the Monday before Wimbledon, in this case June 16, and then adds 100 percent of their points in all grass-court events in the past 12 months, as well as 75 percent of their best grass-court event from the 12 months before that.

I don't know for certain but I don't think his performance at the Olympics will factor in the seedings. The fact that he was runner-up at Wimbledon in 2012 and the Queen's and Wimbledon winner in 2013 will obviously factor.

In that case it sounds as if Djokovic, Nadal, Murray, Federer is about right. If they factor in two years' worth of points there's no way Murray will be outside the top 4 seedings. He's projected to rise to 5th in the rankings after Roland Garros and will be 640 points behind Stan with 2000 from Wimbledon 2013, 900 from Wimbledon 2012 and some other points to be added on to his tally.

Murray'll be 5 next monday, 4 if he wins RG. Hope Wimbly's organizers"ll name him seed N°4 since they consider previous years results

Im pretty sure they will, if not higher. Don't remember the exact system they use though.

What about Federer though? Seems like he's not someone you want in your quarter.

Wimbledon's seeding formula [taken directly from their website]:

Revised seeding arrangements for men introduced in 2001 when seedings committee disbanded. Formula amended in 2002 for men as follows:

Take ESP points at 16 June 2014

Add 100% points earned for all grass court tournament in past 12 months

Add 75% points earned for best grass court tournament in 12 months before that.

If Murray beats Nadal he will be 4th in rankings,if he wins RG he will be 3rd.I can not see Andy beating Nadal but I hope I'm wrong.

We can always dream! I don't have a lot of hope allowing Monfils to take him to 5 sets yesterday! "What happened there" as some commentators like to say on air! :nono :snigger

With the Wimbledon seeding formula, we will have the Big Four take the top 4 seeding in this year's Wimbledon.

1. Djokovic
2. Nadal
3. Murray
4. Federer

Ironically, the last time the Big Four took the Top 4 seeding in a Grand Slam tournament was Wimbledon 2012. Ever since then, we have not have the Big Four take the top 4 seed of Major.

That was only because Nadal had taken off for so many months with an injury and dropped to #5! Murray being injured and withdrawing changed the seedings at the FO last season as well!

its been a while since they have been the big four. and to think that (if this seeding works out) this might be the last time they might be seeded that way just makes you appreciate it a lot. we dont know what fed will do or murray. i guess we can be fairly sure rafa and djoker will stay 1 and 2. i just want to see them all the make the semis at least one more time.

I don't think there's any huge doubt over Murray being in the top four for a few more years yet. I can't see Stan keeping it up and don't really see anyone else being able to perform well enough, consistently enough to get ahead of Andy even if he never gets back to his 2012-13 level. Federer had an unthinkably bad year in 2013 and the likes of Berdych and Ferrer were still only able to be ranked ahead of him for short spells.

Thanks! Del Po?* What in the world is he doing in the top 10 so long after dropping out of sight? Ridiculous! :nono

Del Potro did not play the French Open last year. So, he is not losing points. However, he has 720 points in Wimbledon so he will be out of the Top 10 after Wimbledon.
