Why am I being aggressive or warlike or extreme? I do know what jingoistic means.

Take it easy, Sid. You did not see my smiley. I was of course referrring to the
fact that all your favorites are british players. But, there is nothing wrong with
that. I was just taking a friendly jibe.

Besides, I pardon you as your signature includes my darling, Laura.;)

Rafa has EXACTLY 4000 points lead over Novak now. That looks like a
plenty of margin to help him with the ups and down of the rest of
the year and eventually finish #1. Also, anyone other than Novak is not
even in the radar as they all have very low points in comparison.

It doesn't actually matter. None of those points other than the AO and the minor tournaments we've had to date will be counted come the end of December.

^^Roger is only 245 points behind Juan Martín; Fed defends SF points at IW, but DP defends final points, and I'm assuming he won't play.

Roger only defends QF points actually and he also didn't play Miami last year. These next 2 events are a great opportunity for Roger to rise up and get a chance at #4 ahead of Wimbledon if not RG (much more important for Wimbledon than RG anyways).

I stand corrected. And in Miami, Murray is defending the title…and he's just a few points of JMDP at the moment.

New career highs this week:

16. Grigor Dimitrov 22y
18. Kevin Anderson 27y
39. Nicholas Mahut 32y
44. Federico DelBonis 23y
64. Bradley Klahn 23y
79. Aleksandr Nedovyesov 27y
99. Victor Estrella Burgos (Dominican Republic) 33y

I mentioned the country where he is from for Burgos, because I am sure most of you never heard about him. Shocking to see someone at his age to be able to still climb (he just won a challenger on clay).

I've heard of Burgos, but I'm not saying where. Because I would rather forget the location! Really out of all the above players I think Dimitrov is the one to watch. His ranking is not only going up, but he is just 22 years old.

Delpo didn't pull but I don't think he'll reach final this year unfortunately

If Roger wins this one (IW), he gets back into top 4 instantaneously.

To get past Ferrer both need more than 5150 pts,i hope it's Murray who is the instantaneously one:laydownlaughing

If Fed wins IW, Murray can at the best a seminfinalist. Hence, the points he earns will
only be 360 and so his points at the end of IW will 5065. So, Fed will be ahead of Murray
too.

The statement that I made is indeed correct.

I don't know what you are talking about.

With today's win, Fed has reached #6 in rankings.

If he wins against Anderson in the QF, he will become #5 surpassing Andy.

If he wins the title, he will become #4 surpassing the idle Ferrer.

Fed is now officially #5 and he has surpassed Murray.

If Fed wins IW, he becomes #4 instantaneously.

Even if he does not win IW, as Fed has 0 points to defend in Miami
and Ferrer (the current #4) has 600 points to defend (he was a finalist
last year), he is almost sure to become #4 by the end of Miami.

However, beware Fed Fans. Assuming he maintains this spot
(which is not difficult to do so), he will get #4 seeding in FO.
But, as all of you know Wimbledon seeding is a different story.
Even though Fed may have already surpassed Murray, Murray
will have a tremendous edge over Federer in the seeding formula
as he won it last year (and a finalist the year before) and Fed
faltered early there.

So, in order to ensure that he can get #4 seeding, he needs
to widen the gap between him and Murray. That looks highly possible
as Murray has to defend 1000 points in Miami and the way he
is playing currently does not give any indication that he will
get more than 100 points. But, it is going to be a tight race
between Fed and Murray in the end for the #4 seed in Wimbledon.

Back in January I said that I thought Roger could be back in the top 4 by Wimbledon. Some people scoffed because of all the guys he'd have to pass. I said all it would take is other people playing poorly and Roger playing well. Murray sucking right now, DelPo is up and down with injuries, I like Stan but let's get real, Ferrer is injured and Berydych's attention span wanders. Roger's now #5 and could move to #4 with a win. I rest my case.
