Pablo Carreno is now the #32. He was better player on clay but now seems to play well on HC too. He is 25 and still time to improve

Carreno Busta and Khachanov keep on creeping up there. Khachanov seems like the next in line after Edmund on the Thiem-Pouille career path (rising to becoming a regular in the top 20, maybe top 10).

Pablo is advancing more and more. Today he has beaten Fog again but next match is against Raonic, he doesn't have good luck with the draws

Karen Khachanov's rise has been pretty rapid. Unlike Zverev, he's flown under the radar a little, but this guy is definitely one to watch.

I looked at the live rankings thread that most of us use, and I don't understand why they subtracted 2290 points from Novak today. How can that be a thing?

http://live-tennis.eu/en/atp-live-ranking
Because the points for last year's World Tour Finals will come off together with the points for Paris Bercy after this week.

So Novak loses 1000 points for winning Paris and 1300 points for winning the WTF with one Round Robin defeat and right now is at 10 points for this week for being in the draw in Paris.

Wow! So Andy could really become number 1 if he wins Paris? It would be tragic if he doesn't get there at some point in his career. Hope he finally nails it down. Probably won't be for long, but who cares! He just needs to be there at least once

I agree he is one who surely deserves to have a stint at #1. He's got to beat Raonic tomorrow, which I think is doable, with his return game. Should just be a question of pressure and nerves. I also think he should take the YEC. Would be fitting, as he has been the best player on tour, overall, since Wimbledon.

According to live-tennis, JWT's career high ranking is #5 so yes. Gilles Simon has also been up as far as #6 and Gasquet as high as #7, if you were wishing to make comparisons between the froggies  .

Wow, this era was weaker than I thought! What a pathetic list of players who've been around for years and not making any mark except a "highlight reel" of fantastic points! That didn't get them a victory over a top player to win a major or even a Masters 1000 except JWS! :puzzled :nono  :dodgy: :cover

What in terms of French players?

As good as all of them have shown themselves to be; haven't won much! Tsonga picked up a Masters several years ago, but the rest are just on the rankings with little to nothing to show for it! I remember JW more for his loss in Paris against Nole in the QF of the FO; had 4 MP's and blew it, surrendering the 5th 6-1! I was done with him and the rest of the frogs! Love their style, but all are "mental" it seems! :cover :nono
