Hello Nekro. Might this music be death metal? Is that the correct term?
Hi :D Sepultura is a thrash metal band but yes the vocals are a bit lower than in an average thrash band and some of the riffing borders on death-thrash

Death metal sounds more like this

Emma, I saw Serena Ryder at an outdoor music festival on 7-23. She's very good. Her voice reminds me alot of Amy Winehouse.

Yes, I agree. Both have very powerful voices. Too bad Amy had to go though. She was producing some great songs.

Emma,
Here's a snippet of the live performance I saw.

Another classic one for you, Nekro :) When I'm in the mood for metal and crunching some weights I like to blast this on \m/-|-\m/

Leonard Cohen!

Dear Heather. The snazzy backing and mono-thought obsessiveness of the few words, which splinter into him spelling it out.

Lenny in droll, intense, jazzy form...

Nice one, I like the Cavalera brothers too but I prefer the guitar-work of Andreas Kisser, even though he's an ego guy..... It's good that Sepultura brought back the nice solos on their last album and they sound even more exotic (the solos)

I love this song, it's so much fun and it's like a time machine that takes you back to the 80s:D

One of my favorites from the 1970s off of YouTube--"Slip Kid" by The Who. I absolutely love the guitar, bass, piano and drums in rhythm on this tune. Stays in the head for days.

That song is one that brings back great memories of my father, brother and I on "guys weekend" golfing trips to Georgia and north Florida over the years. :)

Been listening to Bob Dylan's generally reviled Self Portrait, in prep for the release of Another Self Portrait, #10 in the masterly Bootleg Series.

Never heard Self Portrait before! I fell for the foul hype and avoided it as being a Jonah amongst his good stuff. Well, I was wrong - it's magnificent! Can't wait for the BS10...

Who's your vote for best drummer?

There are several to choose among, but I've got to go with the crazy genius of Keith Moon.

Here's The Who playing "Sparks" at Woodstock. Even though Roger Daltrey demonstrates the maxim that not everyone can be trusted with a tambourine, there's still a lot of great music going on here:

Here's a great compilation:
