Oh, you are good! I wanted to be first in with The Pretenders one, because I love Chrissie Hynde, and that song was my first slow dance. In Big Sur, CA. I date myself, but I was really young. Original: Melanie. I think #8 is Heart's "Magic Man." (Isn't that Heart? I didn't even google it.) I also got #1, 5 and 7, but I don't know the title, either. Who else sings in that accent?

EDIT: I got #9: Robert Palmer, "Not a Second Time." That was hard, because the song is familiar, and sounds like the Beatles (which it is,) but an obscure track. And the voice is familiar, but you can't place it, if you're thinking 60s.

Bless you, Moxie. Correct on Heart "Magic Man" and Robert Palmer "Not a Second Time". Congrats.
Have to agree with regarding the Pretenders version of "Angel of the Morning". They nailed it for sure.

I think I got #6. It took some googling, I'll admit. Is it Todd Rundgren's "Sometimes I don't know what to feel?" If so, that's an unusual version.

Clue for #6. He became famous in the early 70's and is still going strong today. But he actually recorded his very first commercial single (45rpm) in the 1960's - a Blues number - that will surprise you.

OK, but I'm wrong about the song, too?

Not a problem.
Now then Moxie. Which UK singer with a distinctive voice that the world knows
became very famous in the early 70's and is still going strong today. But had actually recorded his very first commercial single (45rpm) in the 1960's (this is the snippet I chose) ? The single was not a hit at that time but sounds great in retrospect (mainly due to his longevity). He is still active today recording new music and touring the world.

Yes Moxie. I Just had to put in one really tricky tune in this quiz but believe me the singer of #6 is an icon. That's all the information you are getting from me about snippet #6 as I Don't Want To Talk About It, no more LOL

No, it can't be Rod Stewart. I already thought of him. He's too old, and he already had a body of work, though not as a soloist in the 60s. Is it Rod Stewart? He loves the blues.

Of Course it's Rod Stewart.
I thought that would be tricky one because he was very young then and hadn't developed the gravel in his vocals that the world knows. This is that 45 rpm. Still sounded great (remember it's not essential if you can't get the songtitles on my quiz) -

Did you want to have a crack at the Shania Twain and Proclaimers ones or I can just update the quiz and include the song titles ?

Wait: #10: The Babys, "Everytime I think of you." Then, yes, I'm willing to call it a day on Shania Twain and the Proclaimers. Good fun!

Merilee Rush famous 60's recording of 'Angel of the Morning' is pretty good without the extra overdubs (and in stereo too!) -
