I was to see "Prisoners," too. Just saw "Gravity." It's really beautiful and quite the ride.

If you're into sci-fi, it's worth watching. If you're not, then skip it. I think it's interesting and fun, but I don't want to say anything else and spoil it. Let us know if you watch it.

Cheers buddy. I love sci fi, and there's nothing else on, so I'll watch. Is it a spectacular movie? And is it conceptual, like Inception, for instance?

It's similar to Inception, but not as good. Think of it as a cross between Inception and The Matrix.

Great stuff, cheers! And it has Matt Damon, who's fabulous in everything... :clap

I enjoyed this movie, The Adjustment Bureau. It reminded me of a Christmas movie, a moral fable with a love story. Fight for your love and you can even overcome destiny! There were a few cheesy holes in the plot but in the main, it wasn't too intense or OTT, it was kept simple and the cast were great...

I was OK with it. I liked the idea but the execution lacked something. I like Damon though. If he made 999 Bourne movies, I would watch all of them...at least 4 times :)

Yeah, it was a little sugar coated and lacking tension. You just knew they'd win in the end. That's why it reminded me of a Christmas movie, the happy ending was always gonna happen. Totally agree on the Bourne movies and Matt Damon. He was equally great in The Departed. He can express great tension without expressing anything at all!

Just saw "12 Years a Slave." Fantastic film. Very affecting. All of the performances are stellar. Surely an Oscar contender.

Saw Gravity recently and enjoyed it. I liked the whole angel/dream sequence after she gets to the Russian station and sees a Saint Christopher prayer card. I never thought about it, but it seems likely one's tears would float were you in space.

Went to see "Diana" 'cos my the missus wanted to see it and thought it was very good. Getting poor reviews from many but then again I don't pay any attention to most movie ratings. Also saw the new Stallone and Arnie film "Escape Plan" which we both thought was very good. Surprised my wife wanted to see that. She even watched Expendables 2 with me before we went on holiday lol :D

I saw "Blue is the warmest color." That won't be for everyone, but it's a very good film. I'll just say that it's far more than the sum of its X-rated parts.

Halloween last night, so we watched a great ghost story - The Woman in Black - starting Daniel Ratcliffe and Ciaran Hinds. Really enjoyed the spooky elements of this one, though I thought the very, very ending was a cop-out - a forgivable one, but a cop-out, nonetheless. Good movie though, the kind of Hammer House of Horror-style of subtle film I prefer to modern slasher flicks...

Been meaning to watch that as I'm a huge fan of Hammer horror films. Btw, The Woman In Black (2012) actually is a Hammer film (Production Co: Cross Creek Pictures, Hammer Film Productions) and it's a remake of the superior 1989 film of the same name below.

There's a 2014 sequel on the way also ( The Woman in Black: Angel of Death (2014). Hopefully it'll be good.

Thanks for that! It was very suspenseful and well-made, sticking to all the old ghost story tricks - that still work! I'll watch out for the sequel.

Last night we watched The Eagle, a story set in Roman Empire times, Channing tatum heads to the north of Britain to recapture a Roman eagle standard, which belonged to the 9th legion who brought shame by being captured or killed. Tatum's father was the leader of the 9th. Enjoyed this one too, for all its flaws.

Oh, and the barbarians in northern Britain beyond Hadrian's Wall spoke os gaeilge!

Did you notice that the guy who plays the lead in the 1989 version (i.e., Daniel Radcliffe's part in the new version) plays Daniel Radcliffe's father in the Harry Potter movies? Pretty weird, huh?

I hadn't heard about this yet, but I'm sure I'll watch it. I love these things.

That's an interesting connection, T! I didn't know that. I must say, this year's television was low on good creepy fare. I like old creaking floorboards, cobwebbed castles, shifting coffin lids, not explicit slasher flicks. But anyway, there's none of either, so I watched that film on Netflix...
