Yeah, I also hate those shitty motherfucking neo-nazi black arab jews who destroy all good threads. Fuck them, I want them dead with their dicks shoved up their noses.
Hmm, not exactly what I was thinking.

I really hate the twee nicknames for players on the tennis threads (and teams on the NFL threads.) I mean the ones that you have to guess at. I know folks like it because it's "insider," I suppose, but I hate really having to guess who we're talking about. I'm fine with nicknames, and there are some clever ones out there. The ones we've mutually agreed upon, or are at least obvious. But when folks go deep in to be cute, it hits me in my gag reflex.
There are two sides to this coin: one is your annoyance that you don't know who someone is talking about. But the other side, what I do notice is: this is a challenge to guess who someone is talking about and at the same time decipher the emotional feelings of that someone. Because nicknames are there to express our emotions. So, when someone calls players by nicknames, it tells me a lot about that someone, A given nickname someone is inventing/using is like a picture of someones's emotions that is better than a 1000 words. So, that side of the coin is very interesting, if you are looking to understand you fellow tennis bloggers. We cannot look in each other's eye, so we have developed other quick ways to communicate our emotions online.
But coming back to the side of the coin that you hate: imprecise communication. I also hate when people are sloppy with their communication (sometimes intentionally) and they can do it not only by using silly/non-descriptive nicknames. They also do it, e.g. by abusing the pronouns "he", rather than re-stating the player's name. When the name of the player was stated many posts ago (on previous pages), I coming to the discussion later (because of timezone difference), have no idea what "he" means and don't even have time to find out. Discussion on the blog is not spoken but written discussion, and different courtesy rules do apply to be understood. I hate when people don't understand it and keep using "he" pronouns. Written communication rules suggest to forget "he" and repeat the person name. Such practice may sound unnecessary/stupid in spoken language but won't look so in writing.

I understand you are sarcastic here. But seriously I hate when people put too much emotions and too little information into their posts. Ideally the amount of emotions and information should be well balanced for the enjoyment of everyone. Also if the information at hand is an opinion, it should be marked as such so that we do not confuse opinions with facts. Eveyone is entitled to their own opinion but not to their own facts: facts are common to all living in the same world, and facts are unquestionable. hate people who are unable to discriminate opinions (especially emotional opinions) and facts.

That’s an informed method of interpreting users’ nicknames for players. Thanks.

Excellent point. Thanks again. I will make an effort to use players’ names, and not rely on “he” and “she”.

Hmm! Sometimes imprecise communication is used to get people thinking because even the simplest statement can often be interpreted in more than 1 way. There are times when I can see at least 5-8 different ways of reading or seeing 1 statement. Sometimes imprecise communication is used to enable a bit of word-play which can be fun or to see how other people are thinking as everyone thinks differently to others.

Talking about pronouns, in English class we were taught to use the name the 1st time someone is introduced or when more than 1 person of the same gender is being spoken about so confusion can't occur & other than that use the pronoun to avoid constant repetition as too much repetition can get monotonous except when done for effect so I don't completely agree with you here but I don't completely disagree with you either.

O.K. Thank you very much for that. I'll try to keep my emotions or emotional opinions to my poems in future.

Understood, Mr - Koziarz. Emotions - are - illogical - and - should - be - deleted. No - more - display - of - emotions - from - this - humanoid. (should be read with pauses in each "-" and a metallic tone).

P.S. Can't - shake - the - need - to - make - idiotic - jokes - though.

I hate quilting as you have to sew through both card & material & I always think I'm going to break the needle. (I never used to break needles when sewing until a couple of years ago when I broke 2 new needles in just a week. I don't think needles are made to be as strong as they used to be.)

I used to hate tills that do everything for staff as I thought they made staff into lazy zombies but since working in heritage preservation & having to serve customers with a till that just holds the cash I realise how hard it can be when you have big sales & you're having to work them out on paper. You get nicer than normal when you get big sales at the best of times but when you're working the total cost out yourself you also put more pressure on yourself to ensure that you're accurate.

I hate fireworks. My Sister hates fireworks & my guinea-pig hates fireworks.

I have to ask, what is 'the hate thread' supposed to be about ?

I should let @mrzz speak for it, but I think it started as a lampoon of the Fedal wars, and all the "hating." I think it's a bit of a gripe thread, too, but you should not miss the satiric nature of it, if it seems to tip over the edge.

You're very smart mrzz, how did guess that I hate emotions so much, especially at this moment? And indeed my voice become "metallic" when I suppress them.

Is it "Paradox Day" in your part of the world, my friend? That's a very good one specially tailored for this thread.

@vince evert @Moxie

I hate when people don't read the OP.

Quoting from there:

"Please use this thread to show your hatred and despise to fellow posters. You may or may not disclose the reasons, if any, behind it."

So the thread is about displaying some good ol' hate. It quickly diverted from hate for fellow posters to hate in general. My favorite post in this thread is @Murat Baslamisli 's post about Cilantro: good old natural and spontaneous hatred.

(on a serious note, Vince, it is as Moxie said: an attempt to divert/contain the bile between posters -- which were destroying a lot of good threads as usual -- and have some fun at the same time. Well, at least we had some fun...

In that case you hate me so much right now. Lol. We certainly had some fun here at times & a good, old rant. It's sometimes good to have a rant as it sometimes makes you feel better.

I hate myself, fisrt time I wrote the sentence above I inverted the words "from" and "to".

I edited the original but @Horsa quoted it before I edited, so my mistake is forever registered.

Ha! I fooled you! I won't say I hate her for that. Don't hate the messenger! This is just spurious, secondary hatred. Focus on the real and profound part of your hate. Now, excuse me, I have some hatred to catch up.

thanks mate. I guessed that the topic would have morphed from how it started.

Ok then. Call me old dude but I HATE the fact that the traditional audio blank cassettes have been phased out and not easily found anymore.

What the hell has taken it's place ?

I grew up with these 60 minutes and 90 minutes tapes such as TDK and always was taping things off the radio as well as LP and 45 rpm singles.

Yeah, since my timezone is 12h ahead of yours, then I should say to you "Today is opposite day (situated on the other side of the globe)". But when talking to someone near me (e.g. my wife), I say "today is a normal day (as opposed to opposite day (completely different; contrary)) because we don't argue about anything" I literally self-contradict.

(my emphasis)
I don't care about TDK tapes being useless now (I have a boxful of them in my garage, mainly rock & jazz classics) but I hate when in writing speech, people make mistakes/typos that change the meaning of what is said or makes the meaning silly. E.g. when "its" and "it's" get confused, as above.

I hate that, too. Annoyingly, I’ve noticed I’ve been guilty of it when not paying sufficient attention to autocomplete.
