Mashafan, don't worry about them. From personal correspondence I know that there are posters here who like Masha but nobody normal wants to comment on Masha here given how she is treated by a few very vocal anti-Masha fans. I can never understand how they have such pleasure crapping on other players than enjoy and post about their own favourites, but that might be just me. If it makes them happy, let them mock Masha. I am happy with her every win and especially because I know that some on the other hand are so unhappy.

The constant whining about shrieking is frankly just pathetic to me, as Masha is hardly the only one doing it. But now to counter that, some came up with the degree of shrieking and a purpose of it, makes me laugh when I read it. And I did watch and do watch many matches, it doesn't bother me at all. I watch them hitting that yellow ball, if they were screaming when not hitting a ball, then it might be a different story.

Masha might not be the best mover or the most powerful player, but her results are a testament of her strong will and determination to succeed since she was a little girl. I can only admire that.

The fact that it doesn't bother you is great for you, but for the other members of the viewing population who remember a quieter gentler playing environment, we find it difficult to manage at times.

I saw the crowd shouting (going berserk if you will). What does race have to do with it? That's too easy an out. Were the crowd anti-Serbian when they supported Roger over Novak? Were they anti-Swiss when they supported Agassi over Roger? Again.. what does race have to do with it? It's well documented that against virtually any other player, the crowd will support Roger these days. I don't think there's anything nefarious about it :blush:

I've heard the sound of racist chanting when soccer teams play in Eastern Europe. I didn't hear anything like that here...

Did he say that in his presser?? And if he did give up because someone called him names??? Normally a true competitor uses that as motivation to play better. James Blake faced that a few times - even from an opponent. Things said in a forum without any verification via links to press releases? C'mon.

It should also be pointed out that Monfils is actually one of the crowd favorites at the USO. He is entertaining and people like to watch him play. There was a big crowd last year when I saw him live in the 1st round and noticed a large crowd this year in one of his early rounds. They just like Federer a whole lot more. Seems to bother you a bit ??

I don't know whether there was any name calling involved. If so, it is unfortunate.

However, in the pre-match presser Monfils told explicitly that he likes playing in
NY as a large group of black community come out to support him along with some
other reasons.

I heard plenty of cheers for Monfils over television, and I'm sure there were many more cheers for him during the match. If there was any criticism of Monfils it probably had to do with the fact that he often plays and acts like a damn fool.
