singles is where its at for nadal. we need to see how solid he is off the ground.

if he plays like he played at Wimbledon then it will be early exit from here.

you cant return poorly the whole match and expect to win. you also cant give up the whole court and not expect them to hit winners like there is no tomorrow.

Nadal been working on his hardcourt game,so there should not be a early exit here.

what up general sid.

truth be told, we just need him to be healthy and raring to go in 2014.

I think this hard court business is too risky for the knees now. so I don't really have a problem if he loses early at all hard court events.

I am more worried about the knee and his longevity in the sport.

I think he can still make further marks on natural surfaces where the knee is safe.

Wish they would show the Rafa match, but they won't.

they might show his doubles match if he manages to win a couple of rounds or more.

or we might be able to catch the highlight reel somewhere if he wins tomorrow in a convincing fashion.

In a child custody case, the judge needs to decide between
the feuding Momma bear and Papa bear. The Judge decides
to go with the wishes of Baby bear.

Judge: Would you like to go with Papa Bear?

Baby Bear: No.

Judge: Why not?

Baby Bear: Papa Bear beats me.

Judge: Would you like to go with Momma Bear?

Baby Bear: No.

Judge: Why not?

Baby Bear: Momma Bear beats me.

Judge (getting irritated): With whom you want to go.

Baby Bear: Chicago Bears, they only beat nobody. :)

Cow on train tracks:

A passenger train is creeping along, slowly. Finally it creaks to a halt. A passenger sees a conductor walking by outside.

"What's going on?" she yells out the window.

"Cow on the track!" replies the conductor.

Ten minutes later, the train resumes its slow pace.

Within five minutes, however, it stops again.

The woman sees the same conductor walk again.

She leans out the window and yells, "What happened? Did we catch up with the cow again?"

thanks baron britbox. that was the name indeed.

well now that you are in Australia, I am going to throw a tennis trivia question at you:

who is the only Australian player ever to drop tennis for 20 years to take up farming, and then return to competitive tennis?

Guess is Emerson? I don't know about quitting tennis for farming, but he came from a farming background at the beginning, so that's my best guess.

25. Gladiator

+ quick grab for two more - True Romance and Click.

I can't believe you liked 28 Days Later too. You Brits are so alike when it comes to certain things. :p

I tell you why. I had a long fight with the forum owner Mark at MW not so long ago. He liked it so much that it was probably on top of his list as well. When I told him that I didn't like it because it had so many flaws to overlook, it did not sit well with him. I even posted a couple of reviews by a couple of critics but anyway, you know, to each his/her own. We have come a long way since then. It's all now water under bridge. I personally find it very hard to get past a movie if the main plot comes with too big a hole.

I've highlighted the ones I liked. I did not like The Shining - mainly because I did not find it scary enough. As to the LOTR, the only one I have not seen is the Two Towers and that tops your list. lolol. I was told it was one battle after another after another after another, so that kind of took away my interest. I liked the first one the best.

Anyone has yet to mention Inception. Personally I didn't dig it as much but I know it became very popular within a very short time.

Go on then - I'm intrigued... What are the big flaws in 28 Days later?

My own guess would be not enough remnants of carnage in the city and the motorways when they head up North. I think the motorways would in reality be a road of unpassable molten metal. Another might be how long the infected survive without food.

I noticed Britbox is on Gold Coast of Australia. One of my brothers lives in Brisbane. I wonder if he's going to the tournament next year. It's a great tournament though only 250.

Definitely. Federer has committed to playing Brisbane. I was planning to go anyway, but that news rubber-stamped the deal.

Federer should know that Brisbane belongs to Andy Murray only. :p

But seriously, that's great that he's going to be there as well. How far is that tournament from where you live, say, if you were to drive there?

Also, how are you liking the Gold Coast? it looks so beautiful but I must admit, I am not a very big fan of Australian weather - it's just too hot for me. But I know some people thrive in it.

Loving the Gold Coast - miles of beaches but also a huge hinterland of green valleys, mountains and rainforests slightly inland, so everything is within easy reach. It's roasting in the Aussie summer, but the rest of the year is manageable with the weather.

Here's the tourism video of the GC:

It's not like this every day though...

Absolutely I was one of the beleaguered legions. I rooted for him until the last match he played, that crazy, amazing Russian. You kind of knew you'd get your heart broken, but he was pretty hard to resist.

rex hartwig.

I read somewhere that he actually quit the sport for 20 years and took up farming.

and then he decided to come back. I think he was somewhat competitive when he came back and that was the amazing part.

we may have to do some research on him to know the exact deal.

by the way I played doubles with an aussie old man a few years back.

his name: Russell Seymour. he was once ranked in the top 5 in doubles or so they told me anyway. I never bothered to check.

anyway he and i played doubles against the top doubles team from the university of new Orleans.

the aussie old man was just laughing at me the whole time in a friendly sort of way. I could not volley all that well so I played from the backcourt.

anyway we demolished the college team.

it was on my worst surface: fast indoor hard courts at the river center racquet club in new Orleans.
