Shutter Island was one of the those movies that totally got me on the edge of my seat. Such a Neatly written story..

Saw Olympus has fallen the other day..was an average movie..maybe a 1 time watch or so..

I hope i get the chance to go & watch White house down & The new wolverine movie this weekend.

CD : Have you watched Game of Thrones btw ?? it seems like your type of tv series. :D :)

I have not watched game of thrones yet general ash. I will get around to it sooner or later.

I heard "Olympus has fallen" was not all that good. gerard butler is making poor decisions with some of these movies.

he is more suited for epic roles. he was quite exceptional in "Attila the hun" just as he was in "300".

"law abiding citizen" was not too shabby either.

I saw "law abiding citizen" years ago and I thought it was kinda underrated.

I thought it was pretty solid.

Not much. Just babbling around since yesterday. I did see a movie on Saturday called Spider. Not your typical Hollywood movie so maybe that's why it was very good. I have yet to see Trance.

Trance is on my to do list. Like nearly all Danny Boyle films.

You should check Spider out then. David Cronenberg has got to be one of the best Directors out there. Unlike Scorsese, he doesn't try too hard and a lot of the time he just lets the plot flow. I like Scorsese's work though.

I also ended up re-watching 12 Monkeys (2nd viewing) and Shutter Island (3rd viewing). I like how the total perspective changes with each viewing.

I'll check Spider out. Agree with Shutter Island, it gets better when you watch it again as you pick up subtle bits you didn't notice. Only seen 12 monkeys the once.. long time ago.

I wonder what got into the old man. why did he decide to call out roger and nadal?

perhaps he finally realizes that it will be very hard if not impossible to match the achievements of those two.

people have to understand that guys like roger and nadal are 2 in 100 billion. nobody has ever seen anybody like them before in all of human history.

17 slams is going to be very hard in the future as the sport keeps becoming more and more demanding.

domination of a single surface for a bloody decade is impossible. that is what nadal did. he managed to achieve the impossible.

also roger and nadal are more popular globally. that may have something to do with this. it is what it is but nole is also gaining a of of popularity.

old man should be happy instead. his son is also an all time great.

laterz general ash.

citi open has a fairly decent field. there are no easy matches anywhere. del potro, Hewitt, sam querrey, milos raonic, tommy haas, dimitrov, istomin, dolgopolov, and the like are all there.

Hello folks,

finally I made an account here. I was initially a bit reluctant to make yet another tennis forum account but then checked the front page of this site and read the "about" page. This place truly has a great idea; to have news section, blogs, and the forum. That's why I made an account to be able to give my contribution to this place.

Hoping all the best for this site and the people behind it,

August

great to see you general august. I had been hoping that a man of your level of intelligence and your immense wealth of knowledge would come our way.

that is why I was so persistent. that is exactly why I sent you a few pm`s.

a man like you belongs at a place like this.

here you will eventually be able to meet the retired tennis stars of yesterday like chris lewis and the like.

and you can have your blog here as well as promote it. we will all offer full support.

it is so easy to move around here too. we can go from thread to thread in a mere second.

welcome to the castle general august and welcome to the forums.

and god bless.

it is raining like hell here at the moment. I thought I was about to lose power which happens here from time to time.

golf course resembles a lake.

we may never hear the end of lance Armstrong. evidently popular culture hungers for him:

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1720207-ben-foster-will-play-lance-armstrong-in-just-1-of-many-biopic-films-coming

Just because sports fans have seen enough of Lance Armstrong doesn't mean studios will stop from making three biopics based on the shamed cyclist who admitted to longtime use of PEDs earlier this year.

Deadline Hollywood reports one studio found their own Armstrong in actor Ben Foster, who is most notable for his roles in Alpha Dog and X-Men: The Last Stand:

Stephen Frears' Lance Armstrong movie is further along than I thought. I’m told that Ben Foster is already in final talks to play Armstrong in the film, which was scripted by Trainspotting’s John Hodge and covers Armstrong’s career from his cancer ordeal to the scandal that brought him down.

You don't need to worry about Armstrong's life getting erased from popular culture, because it's about to be covered extensively.

Yes, here it is:

http://augustonsports.blogspot.fi/

It has stuff from other sports, too. I used to be a massive Formula 1 fan, and even though my interest has decreased, I may write often about it.

And I can promise you one subject I'll write about in a few weeks. It's the 2020 Olympics bids. That bidding process interests me just as much as the games itself. Tennis isn't my favourite sport at the Olympics but you can also read then which would be my favourite tennis venue from Tokyo, Istanbul, and Madrid.

excellent stuff general august.

I have added your blog to my collection of sites to enjoy.

speaking of tennis at the Olympics, I just wonder where they will play next time. perhaps clay could be a possibility.

we have had grass and hard courts at the olympics. could it be time for clay?

i am checking it out now. it is one hell of a blog.

i just read your blog general august.

does the sports medicine really consider the sport of tennis an endurance sport?

it is just harder to win now because the ball keeps coming back. you saw the Atlanta final between Anderson and Isner. one is 6 foot 10 and the other is 6 foot 7. they can serve and they can volley.

only the ball is being hit so hard now and with spin that going forward is simply too risky. that match lasted around 3 hours.

also how many guys on the tour can play for 5-6 hours? you are talking about just 2-4 players at best out of thousands.

it is the natural progression of the sport and the athlete that is forcing higher and higher levels of fitness. those so called lost skills are being replaced by other skills:

1. now you have to be more fit to be able to get to the ball since it is just going to keep coming back.
2. you need to be a better athlete--speed, agility, and balance
3. you need more consistency off both wings
4. you need finishing power off both wings

they can play on glass or ice and still you cant go forward. you cant volley what you cant see.

the war has to be waged from the baseline otherwise you cant pay your mortgage. it has nothing to do with the convergence of court speeds. in fact, on the average, they hit more winners these days and serve more aces, not less. and they are not getting broken any less on the hard courts or even grass.

mahut and stak win serving and volleying but they are not world beaters. they win a small event here and there.

stak got lucky. roger`s game and his shots lacked the usual mustard. he is hampered by a bad back.

welcome to the forum and the castle general viruzzz.

that line from "300" comes to mind general:

"we have been expecting you".

glad you found us mate.

Thank you to both.
It's nice to be here.

I'd choose the great castle of Pyke from the TV adaptation Game of Thrones:

And i'm a fan of Federer, Tsonga, Berlocq and the Argentinian legion.

Awesome castle, General Viruzzz.

(Apparently I need to watch GOT. I'm beginning to feel like the only person on the planet who doesn't.)

What do you think of Delbonis? I've been impressed recently. I also posted a video in the Video Vault of him playing Rafa earlier this year in Chile.

I'm keeping an eye on Federico.
