Serena has high tennis IQ and the tennis media never gives her credit. She turned around matches that looked lost without her coach giving her on court tips. She has the ability to change the course of the match ,good example was the USA Open final at 5-4 with Vika serving for the match..against Vika in Australia qtrs 2010..against Justine AO10...her ability to win close matches or turning around matches is genius.10sfan said:I agree Aga has no chance against a power hitter who can execute, but how often do they play at the top of their game? Aga has way more than defense. Woz is a defender. Kerber a defender. Aga defends, but also has huge variety and constructs smart points. Ciby won because she was playing near her best. A heavy hitter playing at that level can crush someone with little power regardless of high tennis IQ. This is why Aga routinely loses to the big three but usually beats the rest of the field.
Who has higher tennis IQ? Serena or Aga? Take away Setena's power and have them play a match. That would be interesting. I am not a fan or anti-fan of either so do not take this to be an insult to Serena. Just wanting to get insights from people who understand the game better than I do.

They will never acknowledge that fact.
10sfan said:Sorry, taking away Aga's ability to run is not a good retort. I never said Aga is a better player than Serena. No one can claim that. Serena is better than every other female on the planet. I questioned who as higher tennis IQ. The only way to answer that is to imagine how Serena would play if she had the same power as Aga. Tossip is citing examples of when Serena was able to turn around matches. That could be good evidence to support Serena's intelligence. However, did she use smarts to do that or did her game start clicking again after a few bad games?
Serena was struggling with confidence after her loss at RG12,after losing early at A012 and Miami and RG12 she was in her first final in a slam after the USA Open 2011 debacle..who knows what she was going through..maybe nerves and flashbacks...she woke up at 3-2 and ran away with the set and match ..Fiero425 said:special700 said:tossip said:Serena has high tennis IQ and the tennis media never gives her credit. If her IQ is so high, why does she get into battles with players we don't even know? Please spare us all this intelligence quotient on the court concerning Serena! She's so much better athletically, why 3 sets against anyone; esp. Radwanska on grass? How does that happen unless you're mindlessly wandering around the court, commiting UFE after UFE for no good reason? :nono :shy:

tennis is a mental game and she has smarts to realize that she has to change tactics mid match to win...like that 2nd set against pova in Miami, during that changeover after pova broke she was probably thinking about ways to get back into the match and never looked back after breaking back..that takes smarts to fight pova and Hogstedt and bageling in the process.:snigger10sfan said:Sorry, taking away Aga's ability to run is not a good retort. You are kidding when you ask that question....Right? Please tell me you are. If Aggie has such a high tennis IQ why the heck hasn't she won a major yet. And what happened yesterday....See two can play the same game. Remember Serena has 16 majors plus doubles and 4 Gold medals plus many more. Apparently you have not watch many of Serena's matches. "Why 3 sets" that is such a stupid questions:s

You must have me mixed up with someone else! I never said Aza had a high IQ on court! She's one of those mindless players who just bash the ball as far as I'm concerned! She scares players more with all the noises coming out of her for the simplest of shots; including drops! It's unwatchable for the most part! Most of the ladies do it and I've been wondering when the WTA is going to start cracking down on all that stuff on court? It's all been a pipedream saying it's being "grandfathered" in with the new and younger players! Total BS so far; getting worse from what I can tell! Sciavone, Aza, Sharapova, and so many more need mufflers on their mouthes!
