What happened to Sam?? She got dusted!!
Big time! I thought for sure she would make the 3rd round.

She is so unpredictable -- she can show up at a tournament and win it, or show up and lose in the first round. As tossip referred to on the previous page, it's a question of her mental game more than anything else. I agree.

What tournaments has she showed up at and won?

The US Open.

Ula takes Daniela 7-6, 7-6. Have not been around much so busy, with local tennis coverage and ad sales work. Will be at the ITF tournament in Vancouver next week as I have been accredited to cover the event. I could not cover the Bank West Classic, due to work commitments and it is so close to the Vancouver event as well. Do you want to start a thread on that? Odlum Brown Vancouver Open, ITF event not huge $100,000 tourney for both men and women. Vania King was slated for it but has dropped out, top ranked player is Su-Wei Hsieh, 44th in the world. So not a huge amount of quality here, Kimiko Date-Krumm is also in the event, and I hope to cover a match or two of hers, and maybe interview her if I get a chance.

Yeah that showing by Madison was pretty brutal last night. Almost 40 UE's in a straight set match.

Madison has a boring persona...there is nothing exciting about her personality...she is trying too hard to conform..

Aggy & Lepchenko are up soon and Aggy will probably take it; but, I wouldn't mind if Lepchenko wins. I'm hoping Hampton wins this tournament; but, Aggy will probably pull it out.

Right-on!

Oh, BTW
Welcome!

Semis are set and this is the line up:
Aggie vs. Jamie
Domi vs. Sorana

Jamie Hampton

Although I think Aggie has this wrapped up, I think she may face heavy resistance in the final.
I personally like to see Sorana win it.

Stanford 2013 Finals

How could Sorana fizzle like that? Especially against a Domi who fizzled into a love love final earlier this year??
But that's what happened.
Lil Domi beat Sorana 6-4 6-0
Aggie beat Jamie 6-3 6-2

I drove to Stanford yesterday to watch Cirstea vs Ciby. The reason Cirstea got bagelled was because she has a low tennis IQ. She goes for winners when out of position instead of playing smart defense. She has a big game and can unload when she can set her feet, but makes error after error when running to hit.

I pick Aga for the title. She has the highest tennis IQ on tour. Maybe second highest when Martina comes back.

You covered it for me! The tennis IQ has dropped precipitously since Martina retired with only Aggie holding the fort on smarts and court sense! She doesn't have any power, her serve can be attacked, but at her best, she'll beat players she shouldn't because they're just not intelligent on the court! I've been railing about mindless aggression for years, but only players like Hingis and Radwanska prove my point again and again!
