Simona played an amazing match. She is a true tennis player. NOw she is 1-3 against Serena. Serena has beaten her before by a similar scoreline. Now the ole Robot (giggle, hehe, laffs) knows what true humiliation is having taken the beating of her life in the gold metal olympic match. And ten years of beating. But I have to hand it to Marsha...If I anyone had beaten me so much I think I would just end it all. Or maybe go sell candy in Siberia...lol. So Marsha was rubbing that shoulder a lot yesterday. I am sure her agent has whispered it to the press. The commentators will talk of it soon. At least Serena lost to a quality player...not Robot.
Hurting bad - aren't you? - I'm sorry :lolz:

What a great victory for Simona Halep defeating Serena Williams 60, 62 - A humiliating loss for Serena and a reminder for some of the fanatic Serena fans never to sell the bear's skin before one has killed the beast

Masha's loss yesterday pales in comparison to Serena's - I can't wait to read all the excuses from the Serena fanatics here - viral illness? - knee injury? - what this time?
Serena utterly owns pova..:popcorn..Serena can still win the event and Halep losing because this is just a round robin match....:lolz:

Serena is now affected by breaks in matches...happened at Wimbledon and Roland Garros. The crowd in Singapore seems to be anti Serena, unlike the Instabul crowd that adored and appreciated her.
singaporeans are known to be anti people of color and love their blondes.Serena has never seemed to enjoy herself in asia...she never goes to japan and goes to china because its mandatory...
Halep played the match of her life and hopefully she wins the whole event...but we all know these players are fired up against Serena ...her camp looked like they were seing $$$$ in endorsements. This match was all about Serena not moving her feet and making errors...

Yes, many in those countries seem to have an amazing sense of self hate. I agree, I have noticed that she never goes to those countries. I have traveled much of the world but never stepped foot in an Asian country. And probably because I just have no interest - nothing compels me.

Of course they all want to beat Serena. They want to beat the best. I like Simona and she is a good player. She played a great match executing well. But you are right that Serena was not moving her feet. And the further behind she got she moved them less. She will recover. Eugenie is her next match and I would not want to be Genie.

I'd love to see these two play again in the championship match.

I would too. I would especially like to see some rallies. That was lacking today. Simona's consistency against Serena's power is a compelling matchup.

Seriously? Her camp, parents included, looked like a bunch of very happy people, not really believing what they see. She's not Bouchard, so stop with this crap. It hurts you that your Serena lost, but try to be a bit more balanced in your comments.

That's a great win for Simona. It seems she really has her confidence back. I'm guessing this good result will mark the return of a certain..."less than sane" poster here.

I don't mean to take anything away from Simona as she obviously had an amazing win, but did something appear wrong with Serena? Usually when we see this kind of score from Serena there's something behind it? Anyone watch the match life and have insight?

I only caught the end but Halep looked to be playing unreal and also her serve seemed harder than usual. The game plan seemed perfect, making Serena run a lot with all the angles Halep created. A tough loss for Serena but a fantastic win for Halep and after a few somewhat disappointing months for Halep that will do wonders for her confidence.

Yeah - Good point - Note who always has to drag racists into the discussion when Serena is concerned :) - Not me!!

Poor Marsha, she must be in tears asking her coach: why can others beat her and I can't!!!! And her coach responded: Because you are a robot! Now shut up.

When are coming back to Tennis.com. People asked about you all the time. What they say if often cruel but without you everyone else seems so extremely normal. Now don't be cowardly. Come back to us.

Yeah, her movement was terrible. She seemed nervous and almost frozen in place at times right from the beginning. Her serve was way off, too, which was a glaring sign she was far from her best.

All that being said, I still think Serena will win the tournament. In the end we will look back on this as having been the aberrant match, not the typical match.

If you look at all her losses this year, the majority of them (the young players anyway) played "the match of their life" as it's called. I've seen them raise the level of their games and closeout the match w/ great belief and confidence, but hardly have they done that against others. Everyone is always gunning for #1. Serena more than anyone knows the pressure to keep that 1 by her name.

In summary Simona Halep played great. Good job and Good luck.

Halep played great but I asked her about tons of unforced errors: "My serve was at best in 10 and under division in juniors...... Yeah, it was actually embarrassing I think describes the way I played. Very embarrassing."

Owns is right. I heard Maria has a tat of Serena on her butt in case Maria gets lost, they can return her to Serena:lolz: Serena will be fine, the beauty of round Robin. I am hoping Pova/the ole robot can get one of the top spots in the white group so she can face Serena. She is always looking to crush her.

Serena just came out flat footed,I am sure she will regroup and book a place in the semis. She should just start well and hold serve in the early games. These players know about Serena s game more than she knows about them...remember Muguruza said she watched hundred Serena videos.Serena is the benchmark and ticket to $$$,after beating Serena Muguruza got some endorsement and Halep knows this too...money$$$

Simona served really well. Even when she faced the BP's and a 2nd serve, she protected her 2nd delivery really well. Serena just got beat. I'm hoping too that this drives Simona past the hurdle.

Just also note that I haven't said a bad word about Serena herself - Even great champs and #1 can lose a match - Shit happens

I'm however enjoying myself every time Serena fanatics (no names mentioned but everybody know who they are) have to explain them selves - That always makes my day - And hey - when no explanations are to be found it always is a good strategy to create a diversion and make it all about Masha and how she's 2-16 vs Serena - Good luck with that - hehehe

Please don't call each other names like moron, stupid, etc.

Debate the post, not the poster.

Nothing wrong w/ her from what I could see. No strapping on her. This match reminds me a lot of the Mugu match at RG. Simona had a gameplan like Mugu of serving well and moving Serena around. Serena never got going. She just got beat. I do think more people are trying to implore the Ivanovic AO strategy of beating Serena (although credit to Venus for starting the theory of whacking the return on Serena's 2nd serve to keep her off balance).
