Jerzy takes out Jo in straights and emulates Nole's shirt ripping exercise.

The shirt ripping was hilarious. He ripped it half way through right away he hit the winner, then he went to shake hands with JWT, to finish it off when he greeted the audience.:)

Yeah, I noticed that. Hilarious!

Murray drops the opening set to Granola.

Murray is broken in the second. Really wondering why his name ever comes up in best clay courter discussions.

Probably because he's part of the big 4 and normally the big 4 play well on all surfaces and dominate the M1000 and slams.

Granola has such an effective compact backhand...and that dropper was a beauty.

Agreed, very nice shot. He has a great game plan against murray.

Why is Muzza laid out on the court w/ the trainer?

Agreed that that is why, but it is an incorrect assumption. Murray's only wins against the current top 10 players on clay came in 2008 against Delpo in rome (retirement), and gasquet at the French Open in 2010 and 2012. The guy is a great player but there is not proof that he is (not could be in some future) a great player on clay.

Robbie K. said it's lower back stuff, and that is why they are working on the hammie.

What a bonehead gutless braincramp decision by Granollers at 4-1 40-30, a pure sissy drop shot that didnt even make it to the top of the net. I hope Murray come back and dust this clown

This is such a strange momentum match between Muzza/Granola. Andy up 6-5 in the 2nd set.

Muzza wins the 2nd set breaker, but immediately bows out (retires) sending Granola to the next round.

Roger's half opened up heavily with Haas, Dimitrov, Tsonga and Murray out of the tournament. If he makes it past the last French stand of Simon and Gasquet, it's basically between him and Del Potro to battle it out for a spot in the finals. Given that Delpo has barely played on clay this season, I think it's very likely we will see Roger in the finals on sunday. I do not want to jinx but this is really an opportunity he must grab with both hands. Meanwhile Wawrinka retired from Rome due to a thigh injury. Hope he will be ready for Paris.

Simon is a serious test for Roger though...He has troubled Roger more than once, and his style of retrieving will show a lot about where Roger's consistency level is . Roger never liked playing Simon. I have seen him get frustrated and impatient.

I agree. I remember when Simon had a winning record against him a few years back.

oh Andy... i mean, real sorry for the guy with the injuries and all. yet it's so frustrating, given that everyone raved about his 'breakthrough' and how he's finally found his big-time winning ways....

However, when it comes to clay, the Big 4" usually becomes the "Big 3"

Yeah, I'm not sure I like Roger's chances against Simon. I mean, I'd still call him the favorite but if Roger doesn't at least find his "B game" then he's going to lose.

I remember their first matches back in '08 or '09. Roger was very frustrated and bothered by Simon, who won their first two encounters. In fact, I think Simon even lost the first set both times.

But, yes, if Roger plays at the same level as he did against Nishikori, Simon could easily win this encounter. But I don't think that will happen.

wow. Rafa's footwork at times is astonishing.. Fognini hit a backhand slice down the line while Rafa was in the extreme add side of the court. Rafa moved so quickly while running to his backhand side , he runs around Fognini bh slice to hit a fh down the line winner while standing in the deuce doubles alley. pure amazement
