Just watching Iga match,I love watching her play, she has great technique, good athlete, has easy power, hopefully she stays healthy, she has a great career in front of her.
Iga delivers 2 bread sticks to Rebecca Peterson 61 61....well done Iga!
BTW thank goodness Iga has a great kit for Roland Garros.(much better than that Grandma's dress she wore at the AO this year).

I thought the same thing earlier. I feel like the tennis God's have opened the way for her to win this thing. She seems very unsure of herself out there, when the match is on the line.
Well let’s hope Patrick punished her in practice for not using the open court. If she hits one more damn ball back to her opponent, I thought I was going to lose it.

Great play by Swiatek - she's found her rythm and may make a repeat of the title

Vika is the only other slam winner at the bottom of the draw. Iga is the only other former RG winner in the top half.

Swiatek is very impressive to watch. She has now won 9 French Open matches in a row without losing more than 5 games. Ten minutes into her 4th round match against Halep last year I could tell just how good she could be and she has been quite consistent for the WTA since then. I think she is going to win double-digit slams

Paula Badosa (33) is a player to watch, remember she did defeat Ash Barty (1) on clay.
Has Sorana Cristea found her love of clay again,no doubt Daria Kasatkina will test her.
Victoria Azarenka v Madison Keys their first meeting on clay...Azarenka won their last match Miami 2018,Madison retired in the 2nd set.
A.Pavlyuchenlova v A.Sabalenka Aryna has won their lone meeting on clay in Madrid this year in straight sets.
Serena Williams v Danielle Collins this is their first meeting on clay.Serena leads their H2H 1-0 on HC at the AO 2021 in 3 sets.

Waching Sabalenka and Pavs match,Pavs must be one of the most purest strikers of the ball in the WTA she won the 1st set 64.
UFE in the 1st set.Sabalenka 18UFE to Pavs 6.
Sabalenka playing more measured tennis, controlled aggression has just broken Pavs in the 2nd set leads 4-2.Sabalenka too strong and finds her range wins the 2nd set 62.
Pavs has taken a MTO and has gone off court.

Pavs breaks Sabalenka in her opening service game of the 3rd set,a couple of DFs and UFE from Sabalenka
The Key for Sabalenka in any match she has to keep her UFE intact.Momentum swings in this match,Pavs looks to secure a double break in the final set,she does leads 3-0 with great measured play.Sabalenka needs to be more controlled.
Pavs leads 4-0
Wild with the FH Sabalenka and Pavs breaks again and will serve for the match 5-0
Sabalenka has been a UFE machine especially in the 3rd and final set.
Pavs aggressive with control
Sabalenka 15 UFE so far in 3rd set

MP for Pavs

Well done to Pavs d the No 3 seed Sabalenka 64 26 60!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Victoria Azarenka 1st set 62 over Madison Keys on Chatrier.
Azarenka gets a double break in the 2nd set leads 3-0
Madison gets one of the breaks back, better play, still finds herself down a break in the 2nd set
That was short lived from Madison,Azarenka serving for the match 5-2
Over cast conditions today making the ball heavier, does not favor Madison.
On her 3rd MP Azarenka with a big serve down the tee d M.Keys 62 62

Well done Vika she will play Pavs next

A bit of a breakdown for Sabalenka - well she didn't play well, and Pavlyuchenkova made it a bit worse, so another top 10 bites the dust - Serena left in that part of the draw - so she'll probably be next

Fact.....Sabalenka has never made it to a q/final in a Grand Slam. She was her own worst enemy in this match.or any match for that fact she has to play with 'controlled aggression' and keep her UFE in check, in the match against Pavs she did not.Pavs played with aggression but was more controlled.
Pavs deserved her win over Sabalenka.
To say Serena Williams will probably be next, because she is in that part of the draw? do not underestimate the 23 Grand Slam champion thank you very much.

Well - hand on heart - has she been playing at her best? IMHO - no - far from - so she has to take care and prepare for another exit. Many younger players can beat Serena as she plays today, and it's not because I dislike Serena - far from - but age is hurting her a bit. Pavs played a solid and effect full match.

Lets get back to giving credit to Pavs for her match against Sabalenka for starters.
Serena has not played since the AO and on a different surface, she played Rome and was defeated early, also in Parma no she has not played her best, though she has found a way to win, like most champion players do.BTW you dont want to be playing lights out by the way in a GS in your first couple of matches, you always save your best at the business end of a tournament/

The storm that hit Roland Garros has now cleared and the tarps have come off and play should be able to start shortly on the outside courts.
