Now let's see what Maria is made of. I am smelling a choke when serving for a match.

Imagine 2 greeks winning it all this year, Maria and Tits. If they both get crowned that would make some headlines: A greek wedding served at FO 21

What did BJK say , “pressure is a privilege”?

The expectations weigh heavy on a champ, and in Iga’s case it smothered her. The last top seed standing and the clear favorite.

Yes, I know Coco is only 17 yet its clear the pressure as the slight favorite and a SF berth looming also tightened her up fierce. I’m still on the fence with Coco, its one thing to win when youre the underdog but at a certain point you need to take the opportunities given you. It was there for the taking.

Just got home from work I had to leave early in the Maria and Iga match
I am delighted for Maria she has been threatening, she loves the clay and I know Moxie is a big fan of hers.
BTW Maria and The Young Greek will be playing mixed doubles for Greece at the Olympics.

This match was hard to watch; even without the sound! The UFE's were some of the ugliest with courts wide open! Coco truly choked away her advantage!

41 UFE from Coco in 2 sets of tennis, after she lost the 1st set she just crumbled,I watched the match live.Coco needed to re set and forget the chances she had in the 1st set, this is a learning curve for Coco.I like her game, but there are dents there she needs to improve, her fhand, her 2nd serve for starters.

41 UFE from Coco and about 2 games worth was DF. She needs to tighten up several technical aspects of her game, because when the pressure is on you have to actively choose which shots to execute otherwise those glaring holes in your game show up loud and clear like a PSA. At the slam level that's too many points being donated.

Listen I get that team Coco wants her not to dwell too much on this loss.

However at her press conference she said how one of her trainer/coaches told her this match was going to help make her a champhion and she believed him.

Excuse me?

Sorry but thats taking special snowflake a tad too far. Shrug off the loss, yes, but meanwhile get pissed you played like crap.

Coco's following in the arrogant footsteps of the Williams sister! The ones who said things in the past like "she didn't beat me, I beat myself!" RUDE!

Maybe its me, but my guess was if someone had told 17 year old Serena after a loss like this one “this loss will make you a champhion” she would have beat them like a red headed stepchild.

First off, 17 yr old Serena was mean. You couldn't tell her nothing anyway... :D

As to Coco, I didn't see the press conference, but it sounds like she trusts the people on her team implicitly. I don't know why they told her that, but look at it this way, if she never does this again, then it can help her be a future champion.
