It’s insane, it seems every service game Diego gets behind 0-30, 15-30, or 0-40 and somehow survives. This Next to last Diego last service game was a 15 minute mini set that he escaped.

Then Diego loses his next service game. Just flat out choked. Spraying the ball , missing gimmee shots and loses the set.

Diego is choking, Theim looks exhausted, just ugly tennis at the moment.

For me, Thiem’s serve is always the wildcard of his game. It can be so inconsistent.

While the serve is a big issue, it’s not always only the serve. Earlier today and in the USO final he was too passive and let his opponents dictate. For an aggressive player as he is, this should never be the case

I think court positioning, so that he can always be somewhat aggressive will always be an issue. It seems like natural clay courters take forever to get it in their head to put themselves in a position on the court to be aggressive. I think he stands a better shot at figuring out the serve before he fixes the aggression part.

Well Diego can't seem to hold two service games in a row.

There's the fact that after this match the winner gets two full days of rest before the SF's so with Dominic, who knows?

Maybe. I would think it would be easier to stand closer to the baseline than to change a serve. But I'm not a professional, so I won't say I understand or can identify.

Thiem can’t seem to build on anything today. The minute he gets a break. He gives it right back and winning that second set has seemingly done nothing for him.

Well Dominic winning the 3rd set is big, needs to finish it off in 4. Five sets is not good for him to say the least.

No matter what, in next round the Austrian peasant will lose.
This time he took what Diego gifted him.

I think you can't say anything in general based on USO final. He was obviously anxious and nervous being so close to the trophy and that too playing against a NB3 player.

Right when you think this match can’t get any more cringe-worthy, Diego serving for the set at 5-4, 40-0, and gets broken.

Though Theims DTL FH to get to deuce was a beaut...

Average rank of Nadal’s opponents thus far is 152. If he beats Sinner, he’ll get someone with nothing left in the tank. What a gift for him.
