After a complicated 1st set, just business as usual for Jannik defeating Moutet 26 63 62 61
Jannik will face Dimitrov in the QF
Jannik Forza!
BTW Jannik (7) now stands alone as the Italian player with most GS QFs in the Open Era surpassing Panatta and Berrettini (6)
Sinner improves to 32-2 his record in 24-2
11-0 in Grand Slams, he is 2 wins away from being the new world No 1
I missed most of the first set, but based on commentary, Moutet was on fire, and with the crowd feverishly behind him. Sounds like it was a hard level to maintain, though he still played well. Jannik kept his head and weathered the storm.

Indeed, Moutet came out on fire, and of course being French the crowd was on his side, Sinner has always had a good on court composure, really never shows any emotion, I did post how long could Moutet keep up this level, Jannik did weather the 1st and as I posted it was 'business' as usual for Jannik after the 1st set

Djokovic v Cerundolo...need I say more about Novak's draw? Well, they've never played, so Cerundolo has that going for him. Will he live up to K's moniker for him as "the Dangerous One?" :face-with-tears-of-joy:

Can Rune live up to expectations and take down the much-despised Zverev?

I'm going out of town. I'll be looking at reports from the front.

Novak is playing the injury card again. Had MTO on the court, knee. Cerundolo had gazillion of BPs in 2 set and finally converted to take it 7:5.

I have had computer troubles just back on line I still cant believe Alex de Minaur taking out Meddy in 4 sets, though Meddy was hampered with a huge blister on his foot, still I cant remember an Aussie making the QFs at RG in years.I will have to look that up

Dangerous up 2 sets to 1, which isn't always a good thing. Look how that worked out for Lorenzo. Anyway, I'm back to work in a few. This will be over when I get an opportunity to check again.

As to Meddy, MM. He is still not right after losing that AO final.

Djokovic is clearly injured. He is walking on court, and somehow still making a match out of it.

Cerundolo a break up in the third.
Very unfortunate. Known fact that sleep deprivation makes the body more susceptible to injury so the scheduling really hurt his chances.

Just looked up,
The last Aussie to make the QFs at RG was Lleyton Hewitt in 2004, 2001, Pat Rafter one of my fav players, made the QFs in 1997
Take a bow Alex!

Couldn't watch it cos of work but not surprised at all. De Minaur is a speedy and tricky little bollocks to play against and very fit.

Alex has been the surprise packet at RG, this is his best performance on clay, yes he is like a 'energizer bunny' on court
