He was unlucky with injuries and he had that famous win against Pete in Australia in 1996, but there was also an element of the himbo about Phillippoussis. He was never fully committed. There’s a funny story by Pat Cash during Mark’s Kournikova phase, to the extent that Cash says something like, if Mark wants to win matches he could start by staying out of Kournikova’s bedroom!
Kieran, Anna was really modern day Aphrodite. I spoke with her in Miami and she was a real charmer. Do you think Marat conquered that one? I have $5 on it that he did. Its probably the reason Anna never won a WTA title other than doubles because of her social life was an obvious hinderance.

Brotha.. I think at the time she was still a teenager but LORD have mercy.. Yes she is still with Enrique Iglesias with 3 kids (there's not many guys on this Earth that can compete with but maybe Safin and Shemar Moore.) so she aint going anywhere.

Well, Pat was unlucky. He had Sampras on the ropes in 2000, up a set, up a double break in the second set tiebreak, and he collapsed a little. I remember watching Pete get the mini break at 5-4 and let out a roar. I let one out too. The match was over - and it was still only the second set.

You can see that sweet moment here, at 11 minutes and 20 seconds.

Oh, how I miss Pete. He was such a quiet and classy assassin. :thumbs-up:

Etcheverry on a mission in the 2nd set hands out a bagel to Nishioka, who I feel gave his all in that hell of a TB in the 1st set
Etcheverry leads 2 sets to love

Moxie and Don Fabio,
Looks like you were both right with Zverev he could make the SF again and defend his points from last year at RG
Though I was impressed with Etcheverry with his win

Sigh.. Dimitrov…way too much mental scar tissue from losses in the past for Gregor. No inner belief left with guy.

Who have have thunk, Zverev has a great shot to make his 2nd Slam final, the door is opening…
I don't fancy his chances of getting to the final though. He will have either of the Nordic homeboys and I don't see him besting either one.
