It's getting close to 90 mins for the Gulbis match. Look for Fed's level to drop off considerably.

Right on cue.

Is it me or is Roger far more hesitant about putting away forehands? He's definitely taking some racket head acceleration off.

Looks like this could be a reverse of the first set

This match is going to turn into a real pain in the ass for Roger if Gulbis' serve starts clicking a little more and he gathers some momentum. He can get into these Tsonga-like patches where his serve becomes a terror to deal with.

I still haven't decided on whether to call him Fed90x, 90 Minute Fed, or 1 1/2 Hour Energy Fed...

Wow, that fake drop shot forehand slice was such a boneheaded piece of shot selection. When you're not confident, don't go for touch shots, hit the crap out of an easy put away.

That's my favorite.

Man, Roger's backhand has become so harmless on smaller surfaces. Unforced error by Gulbis gets him off the hook.

Roger needs to be reminded that those numbers are only impressive in the bedroom. He's mixing things up again. 4 kids will do that to you.

Just turned the TV on to see Gulbis step on his racket. What did I miss????

Roger's level drops, Ernie has break points and blows them in spectacular fashion, Roger holds.

It's been that way for years, once Roger starts missing a few forehands he loses confidence in it and is hesitant to pull the trigger. Thus becoming Vanilla Fed.

Hopefully coming back in that last game will give him a boost.

Commentator just called Federer "one of the greatest sportsmen of any sport." Would that sentence mean anything different if you take out "of any sport"?
