Whew. Sweated that one out. Good to see Murray get through. Verdasco's next? Gonna be another tough one.

Great shot! First set to Roger, with a rousing "Come on!"

EDIT: Edberg looked pleased.

I am so happy the brazilian cable TV is showing re-runs of a WTA doubles match. It is so important to change from the mainstream.

Edit: Now they are showing WTA singles players warming up. It is getting better.

Sometimes I despair of Roger. I don't know what type of strategy that was in losing that first game. He just kept going to Gulbis strength... ssssssh idiot at work!

Too many backhand to backhand exchanges for Roger. For Roger against Gulbis that is a losing strategy the vast majority of the time.

Of course it helps if Gulbis is acting like Father Christmas. Maybe he's arrogant enough to think he definitely wins this so he's using it as backhand practice

Sigh... maybe I'm being harsh and he's trying to breakdown Gulbis strength

Still enough wackiness in Ernie's game and there always will be. That alone will keep him from becoming a serious threat, he definitely has the game for it despite that forehand.

I see big bad Berd got through easily :(

Yup. The weather report becomes critical for Roger (assuming he gets past Gulbis). He ain't beating the Berd man a cold wet day
