That was an awful call. Umps have to hate TV replay...

Tennis loves its traditions, but the clay tournaments need to realize it's the 21st century, and there is technology to settle these line calls accurately. Even with the mark the ball leaves, we've all seen examples of umps and line judges getting it wrong.

But in this case, he called the ball good, but said Serena had a play so they should replay it. Even w/ Hawkeye, replaying of the point is at the discretion of the ump

No they replayed it on tv, the line call was after serena had netted her shot, so it did not disrupt her shot. She had already made the error, before the line-judge yelled.

This is the best match of the tournament. The Sveta/Franny match had more breaks of serve.

I understand that RB. But even when a ball is called good on Hawkeye it's still up to the discretion of the umpire, whether the player had a play on the ball or not. That's where human error can occur, like it did here.

Vika has to hold now or Serena will ride this momentum to the finish.

I think breaking Vika here, then holding serve, and asking Vika to serve to stay in is the way to go for Serena.

What call are you talking about? I am talking about last point of set 2. She made her play, and it was an error. After the error, the lines-person called it out azarenka's shot that serena committed the error on. Then the ump overturned it and made them replay the point. Since, serena hit the ball before the call, there was no need to replay.

I think Azarenka is out of juice with her serve. It is a tall task to ask her to maintain a high level of serving which she needs to beat Serena versus Serena finding another level on her serve when she needs to find it.

But they did replay it instead of giving the point to Vika. That's my point about human error.
