Well, congrats to Nadal for finally breaking that hideous stat of never defending a title off clay at least. Poor showing from Medvedev but it's his first Masters 1000 final and many more ahead imo.

God damn, one of my favorite Nadal hating stats is gone. Hopefully he plays Cincy this year, he would still get an ATP 250 draw to the finals but he wouldn't be winning that.

Easy, he bullies Nadal around with great ease. Medvedev is just vanilla. I don't think he will become great even in the current era.
Look at the scores of their last 2, in fact their last 3. Hardly a walk in the park. Medvedev can play a lot better than this but he's had a great week besdies today. Should be ahead of Tsitsipas pretty soon.
Fair enough. I initially thought the same, but I looked up the h2h. Like everyone else, I thought Medvedev would do much better today, even though I didn't really think he could win.

Think of how GSM is going to feel...he's made it his life's work to bring that one up at every opportunity, and beyond.

I was expecting maybe 7-5 6-4 to Nadal.

Congrats to Ralph for defending a title outside of clay for the first time and for securing the #2 seed at USO. He made a mockery of next genners.

Hardly. They have a whole list of things. Today crossed off one, but there are many more.
Like that he's won all 4 slams plus gold, metal Davis cup, all but 3 masters events, 4 times year end number one there's this list your talking about.
