Are you getting free to air Olympic coverage in the States?

ALL I can find in the TV schedule -- and these are cable channels..

is NBC coverage and a channel 90 affiliate...but they mix everything together...

and selective...i didn't know that tennis in rio starts at 10 AM with kei nishikori for example among other courts --

because the TV schedule HERE only shows 5:45 PM USA - venus williams..and then the next hour slot moves to other games wherever there's USA.

so basically anything where there's USA. the rest probably just come in news clips.
i also noticed here in the ceremonies -- when the athletes and flags came out -- when it was just a few seconds BEFORE these 2 countries -
CHINA AND RUSSIA...the tv coverage of nbc goes "it's time for our break" - and a commercial comes, just one, and then back to the athletes. so you never got to see china or russia walk...curious , eh?

lol. that's the kind of ''public tv coverage" here. .and you can't really find any on ''pay" anyway.

i hope we get from this website though...although i don't know how that goes from rio and which corporation does that? i dont' know how these things are arranged.

so here we go then....time for some groovy top notch tennis at the groovy top notch Olympic games.

Djokovic better be alert to del potro in rd 1, is rafa really fit ?. the kokk is back in action as is jerzy janowicz, I'm thinking murray retains his gold medal, how fit is Djokovic (shoulder?).

dreddy brown is in the singles, cue zany antics where shots may happen at unusual places in rallies etc..Pablo cuevas will pretend he is in Uruguay and claim he is playing in a home Olympics.

kokk is out though..lost 2tb sets to some Turkish bloke. must be the kokk's first singles match since last year.

del potro warmed up for his Djokovic match on sunday by winning his doubles tie with whoever it was he was partnering.

aaaaaaaaand dangerman Tsonga won in 3 after dropping 1st set.

courts looks good in 2tone green. warmer than all that hc blue we have to put up with way too much.

MALEK JAZIRI was something exciting today against TSONGA. jo really had to behave in order to escape that one. !

dimitrov keeps sliding, it seems -- he's in danger in his own career to become a ''former threat". as more younger ones come up..because even in this day and age when modern training and fitness methods help prolong careers --

being now - what? -- 25? or something isn't THAT much of a ''fresh face whipper-snapper" anymore...and if those aussies get their act together -- and that kyrgious gets really serious -- they could blow away dimitrov off the court.

Jaziri has been playing pretty well this year.

Agreed on Grigor - he's a busted flush. The youngsters will soon swallow him up... and his career will just be a footnote in the "What might have been..." section. I think it's already dawning on him.. might explain why his confidence seems completely shot.

remmeber that other guy generation before? also moroccan like jazir
younes el aynaoui who reached the AUSSI SEMIS IN EARLY 2000'S before falling in five REALLY high quality sets to andy r roddick? and younes enjoyed a brief , brilliant , very, very popular resurgence up to the USO? and he had such a wonderful personality?

this jaziri reminds me -- in a much more 'diminutive'' game than younes -- aswell as their compatriot even earlier -- hicham arazi -- different styles but ALL very creative and even magical ...i remember john mcenroe was so taken by the styles of these guys. especially hicham that sampras himself singled out as one of the most talented in that period.

very strange how dimintrov is in such doldrums. but then MAYBE he really was overhyped

tomorrow's a really big day in the men's too WHAT WITH NUMBERS 1 AND 2 coming up. and of course nadal the other gold medalist.

I'll ignore the Olympics for many reasons, but I'll have a look in the end hoping No1e will improve his top 10 wins count.

oh Mastoor -- you might want to watch how well the AMERICAN athletes perform...
\
after all -- they are ''CLEAN" AND ONLY use ''legal" ways of ''performance enhancers" -- purely by virtue of being SUCH exceptional people...

US athletes using brain stimulation to improve Olympic performance
A number of athletes competing at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games have used an unconventional (and still legal) technology, which involves stimulating the brain, to help improve performance in competition.

A San Francisco-based company called Halo Neuroscience is behind the trend, with three American athletes among the first to try the technique, as reported by spectrum.ieee.org.

Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) is a process that involves athletes wearing a device called a ‘Halo Sport’ on their heads, which channels a small current into the brain.

The Halo Sport has electrodes placed within the headset that deliver a small current into the brain’s motor cortex.

The purpose is to potentially make neurons in the brain receptive and more likely to respond.

Halo chief executive officer Daniel Chao calls the process “neuropriming”, which means the brain’s neurons become more accurate at communicating with muscles and improve physical performance as a result.

The Halo Sport has been designed as a training device, which in turn will help athletes improve performance without the headset’s assistance while competing.

Three US athletes have used tDCS in their training – 400m hurdler Michael Tinsley, sprinter Mike Rodgers and modern pentathlete Samantha Achterberg.

Others to have tried brain stimulation include Hafsatu Kamara, a 100m sprinter from Sierra Leone and Mikel Thomas, a 110m hurdler from Trinidad & Tobago.

Halo’s new technology has also been picked up by US Defense, who are exploring whether brain stimulation could have benefits outside of sport.

Halo Neuroscience have also had involvement with other sports, with the hugely successful NBA basketball team the Golden State Warriors using the company’s technology.

TDCS is the latest in an endless cycle of methods being used by athletes in an effort to improve sporting performance.

The emergence of sports science in the modern era has revolutionized almost every discipline, while performance-enhancing drugs and doping have become prominent in elite sport.

There are currently no rules from the authorities over the use of tDCS and brain stimulation is legal, but it will be interesting to gauge the potential benefits of the technique as it is explored further.
