What a match. Down a break in the third they rallied back with a titanic effort. Nadal really played his ass off and Lopez has such tremendous instinct for doubles. Nadal might not have much left for tomorrow but I doubt he'll care too much.

I am in such a mess with the scheduling... I thought the Doubles final was in a few hours and they are deep in the second set already. I have trouble even tracking what day it is in Rio half the time.

It's not just the time difference. The website is absolutely horrendous.

Wow. Congratulations to the Rafa fans out there.
Thanks, pal. A gold for Spain, and a nice win for two good friends. I don't see how Nadal will have anything left for Juan Martin tomorrow, but I won't feel sad about that. Del Potro for the Gold, then.

Nadal and Lopez win the Gold Medal in the Men’s Doubles for Spain

Cps6dLWUAAAcJWI.jpg

Rafael Nadal and Marc Lopez have secured the Gold Medal in the Men’s Doubles event at the Olympic Games in Rio, defeating Florin Mergea and Horia Tecau of Romania 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. The Spanish tandem’s hopes looked bleak in the third set as they were a breakdown before roaring back to win the last three games […]

I doubt he will, either. He's done probably more than he'd hoped at these Olympics. And let's be honest: the gold medal is something which having one is great, but having two doesn't change anything. Sort of like the YEC...either you have one, or you don't, but they don't really matter as much as Majors or MS when they pile up.

Definitely I don't think Rafa tomorrow will have too much gas in the tank, he has given everything to the doubles plus playing the singles (3 sets today) Dolpo will have a good opportunity to reach the final though I hope to be wrong

the qf singles were a blizzard of interesting goings-on.

I was trying to watch 3 matches on at same time via pirate streams, rafa overcame sloppy play, an inspired bellucci and raucous home crowd, :-)2

murray was break point down serving at 4-4 in 3rd set..a long rally then happened, the tension was mental.

and del potro kept the undreamable dream alive seeing off his somewhat pushfest opponent..rba.
mr del goatro wins 4 matches in a row for first time since 2013 prob. :)

I remember Rafa that awful loss against Delpo in the USO 2009. Before that he had lost against Soderling in RG and he couldn't play in Wimbledon because his knee which makes him to be out of the court for almost 3 months and when he came back playing in that USO against Delpo he was suffering a stomach muscle strain which happens to them very often after been no playing for awhile. Anyway Delpo played unbelievably that tournament beaten Federer in the final
