Once again I am showing my what???? And where is an example of the hypocrisy you said that I exhibited? Still waiting to hear it. Then you said that you only hear me talking about Federer and Novak , and therefore I am blindly in love with ONE player. By my count that's at least TWO players, although I reject your premise to begin with as I enjoy and have posted about many players. And please DO NOT go back and change your "ONLY ONE PLAYER" to "ONLY TWO PLAYERS" as you did recently when I pointed out that Novak was only 29, and you went back and edited your post citing his age, and then told me I read your original post incorrectly. Several others on the board pointed out your edit.

Oh I get that all the time! The few of us that have a bigger circle of faves can't seem to understand compliments or criticisms of diverging players! I'm old; I had to be more open or I'd still be pining away due to Borg's premature retirement! Same for the ladies when Navratilova left single's play in '94! Like an imagination, it's always expanding! I initially had Sampras as the GOAT even without a FO final! I gave the same courtesy to Roger until he finally made the point moot in '09 after he took his lone FO! Right now I'm putting Nole right up there; even with just 12 Majors, but I favor him at the moment and wouldn't mind Fedal leaving the stage! It doesn't take away from their standing in history! - http://fiero4251.blogspot.com/2016/08/fan-page-novak-nole-djokovic.html - :dodgy:

Well said, Fiero. I have a hard time understanding how fans of the game can't appreciate all of the greats, even the nemesis of their favorite. We're going to miss Roger, Rafa, and Novak when they're gone--possibly the three greatest players of the Open Era.

That said, I'm looking forward to new blood rising to the top.

And you continuous showing the same again and again. You can talk about those two players but you like just ONE PLAYER because (like others) you are now into the Novak's wagon by convenience lol
And I don't understand what is your trauma about Novak's age and what was my mistake about his age, can you remind me that "serious" mistake? jzzzzzz

I have no idea why you say I'm only a Novak fan--that's simply not the case. I have no trauma about Novak's age. I was merely pointing out that, about a week ago, you posted on a thread stating that Novak, at 30+ years of age, was unlikely to be able to change (although you also thought that Rafa, who's a year older, COULD change). At any rate, when responding to your thread, I mentioned that Novak was only 29. You went back and edited your original post to state that Novak was 29 (instead of 30), and then called me out for not reading your original post accurately (I had read it accurately, but you changed the age after the fact in order to call me wrong). A couple of posters pointed out what you had done. Does that ring a bell?

Paris is right around the corner! Any insights to Nole's psyche and desire to grind this out to hold onto his #1 ranking? Murray not helping his cause by getting into a 3 set war with Simon today! What was all that ranting and raving about? Has Lendl left him or something? Simon was just playing well; getting that one extra shot back! What an idiot; expending all that emotion in a 500 event makes no sense when he's this close to a goal of being #1! Asinine!

I see that you are very confused because I haven't said that you are only a Novak fan, you should read again my comment and you will see why said that you "like" him
And about that old comment about the ages I forgot completely but if you would have a minimum of a reasonable mind you could see that I was talking in general about te best players (I know perfectly well the age of each one)which are around the 30's or very close of that age and you are trying to twist everything that I said. This is completely stupid and seriously I'm not going to waste my wonderful time to discuss anything else with someone like you with such a lack of intelligence
Good night mr. or mrs.

Repeating things again and again, Carol, doesn't make them true. You said I ONLY LIKE one player--NOVAK---and I said that is NOT the case. Therefore, I suggest YOU reread your OWN comment. And you are trying to hide the point I made about last week's thread. You cared so much that I mentioned that Novak is only 29, that YOU went back and changed your original post (which said he was 30) to saying he was 29, and then CRITICIZED me for misreading your original post (after you had changed the age). Not sure why any of the above shows a lack of intelligence on MY part; rather it shows how far you will go to avoid being wrong, and instead trying to make ME wrong for "misreading" your original post. That's pathological.

La Monf qualified.

Now only 2 slots open and the four competing for those two slots are Thiem, Berdych, Goffin and Cilic. Among the four, except for Cilic the other three have already lost in this week's tourneys.

I am no longer rooting for Thiem to make it this year (although he may). This is not because I don't like him, but because I think he is too tired to give decent fight to top players even if he makes it there.

Hope Cilic and Goffin makes it. I would prefer to see a new face than Bird.

Thiem would end up being fodder; probably losing all 3 RR matches! He has to be exhausted! Goffin's close as well! This might be Cilic's last chance! I appreciate Fedal giving up their spots! :dodgy:

Thiem, Goffin, and Berdych would all be Round Robin fodder. Cilic could make some noise if he finds his best level, but is unlikely to do so.

It really is a weak top 8 this year.

Tsonga has still a tiny chance to qualify

Cilic sneaked past Berdych to #9 in the race rankings, and thus the last qualifier - he's currently just 10 points ahead but could be 200 points ahead if he beats Nishikori in the Basel final. Let's hope that happens as he'd be more dangerous than the declining Berdych.

Even if Tsonga beats Andy in the Vienna final, he's still 320 - 500 points behind Cilic. So he'd pretty much need to win Paris and/or Cilic to go out very early to have a chance.

With Thiem's lost today he's dangerously close to losing his spot at the WTF. Currently he's ranked #8, and seeded #7. With one more win, Cilic pushes him to #9/#8 seed. But it is Berdych, Goffin, and Tsonga he has to worry about.

To put it another way, for Thiem to fall out of the WTF, two of the following need to happen...

- Cilic wins one more match (R16)
- Berdych wins two more (R16, QF)
- Goffin wins three more and makes it to the Final
- Tsonga wins it all

Cilic just beat Goffin, so now the list is down to one of:

- Berdych wins two more (R16, QF)
- Tsonga wins it all

Opponents for Berdych are Simon and then Murray/Pouille. Berdych could theoretically do it, but he would need Pouille to take out Murray for him (which is also unlikely).

Tsonga is coming up through the Kei/Raonic quarter, so his projected path would be to beat Kei, Raonic, Murray, then Djokovic to win the title. I know things that are less likely... but not many.

Bottom line, I think Thiem limps across the finish line. Hopefully he shows up in better form though- while Jack Sock is a good player and is hot right now, losing that badly to someone twice as high as you in the rankings is a bad sign.

Tsonga would definitely be more exciting than Berdych.

Jo Willy really needed to win last week in Vienna. He'll have to win the whole thing in Bercy and I don't see that happening. I agree w/ Delpo, I think Dominic limps into the "playoffs".

Yeah it'll likely be Thiem alright which sucks. I doubt he'll win a single match at the WTF.

He'll be the pigeon for WTF. Every year there's usually one player that goes 0for.
