Just on the issue of privilege, I agree with you but I’d say also, that if I worked my socks off to get where Novak is, and I had the money he has, I’d be mad not to use it. It’s not always an unfair advantage to be rich. It’s often the result of effort. And if it takes a great wealthy man using his resources to expose a loophole in the law that’s inaccessible to a person of lesser means, then isn’t the law at fault?
But in so many ways - and I think that this is what you’re referring to - privilege plays a part in the negative, in situations like this, as in, the arrogance of somebody believing they’re too big to follow rules, and others treating them too deferentially out of fear of their power, wealth, or popularity…
