Marjan’s a real tennis man. I remember when he came back on the team after novak had the holy-man-guru-swami geezer guiding him to love his opponents, and marjan reminded Novak that tennis is a warrior sport, not a love fest. Marjan knows what’s at stake, and he’s top notch at the technical stuff too…

Let’s be frank here. The whole of social media is ablaze with this. This is life now. It’s a big story. And it’s one that interests tennis fans in particular. What do you think we should discuss? I’ve said it a few times, The sooner this is sorted and we move on, the better. But I’m not the only person here wondering about what’s really happening. I’ve also seen Djoker fans discuss it too…
This. Folks are throwing around the word "hater" a lot. Saying people on here are playing "sleuth," but we're just sharing things we read out there. Making it about the Fedalovic wars. I don't know how we're not expected to discuss it, when the whole rest of the world is, and we're a tennis forum. There are questions that remain to be answered.

Djoke had better show up to his matches wearing ear plugs. He will be booed like nobody else in tennis history.

He's matured and expects the worst from rabid fans! They couldn't have been more rude than when trying to push Federer over the finish line a couple years ago at Wimbledon! Some smug woman in the stands has been immortalized showing her support with a finger wag of "1 more point" when Roger had 2 MP's! It was an epic fail and still hilarious to this day! :face-with-tears-of-joy: :face-with-hand-over-mouth::fearful-face::laugh::lulz1:

It’s a funny meme. I often wonder about people who end up being the butt of jokes on the Internet. It has to be mortifying to become famous for that. She looks like she deserves it though, smug is too brief a word…

I had a thought: they'd better beef up security amongst the fans. There are going to be a lot of rabid pro-fans, too. Fights could break out, as emotions seem to be running high in Melbourne, and I'm going to assume they still serve alcohol at the AO. :lol6: All of the umps are going to be sharpening their crowd control skills. Look to Novak's matches to have seasoned umps in the chair, is my bet.

Just checked Wiki draw for the tournament! So far Novak's name's still at the top, seeded #1! How long will it take for someone to back down? :anxious-face-with-sweat:
Decision will be made today from Alex Hawke if he intends to re-cancel Novak's visa

I'm going to guess that the government is ready to ramp down rather than ratchet up the stakes. Let him play and let the AO go on. If they have issues with him as to details on the paperwork, I think it will get dealt with via fines, down the road. And they are not going to ban him from Australia.

Well if they go the other way,it will go to court under Judge Kelly, who I think will probably put an injunction on it,let Novak play for the meantime and then carry on with the case after? just my thoughts.

I was projecting a bit the USO crowd onto the AO crowd, which is a bit unfair, as I know that Aussies are nicer than we are, generally. (And I do always defend my people here at the USO, but still....) In spite of his aversion to heat, Novak might do well to play day sessions as much as possible..with a less "lubricated" crowd. :face-with-tears-of-joy:

I love American's and they have always been polite to me when I have visited USA,we could learn a lot from their personal skills especially in retail shops and restaurants here Down Under.

Jeepers, that would be boring. Here's a hypothetical, and I'm going to risk getting called a "hater" for this: what if, under your circumstance, Novak won the AO, and was later deemed to have been in the country illegally? Sorry, that's a whole can of worms.

if govt are going to re-eject djoko from aussie maybe they will wait until just before the ao draw.

then the draw is done without djoko on the list and thus it will be too late for him to get in again even if he gets another court order to avoid deportation.

the other option is for govt to do frig all and let him play. ho hum..whatever.

I am thinking he is probably going to play, but I do think they are going to look at his paperwork and his timeline, and then they may impose a punishment after if it proves there are inconsistencies that he can’t account for on his forms. I also think Alex Hawke is also in a position in which he can impose strict guidelines that Djokovic must follow to a T and if he doesn’t he is out.

He's going to play. And everything will go as normal, to the extent that it can. The government will fine him, down the road, for some irregularities in his paperwork. He will pay the fines happily, because he can afford it, and it will all go quietly away. This is how rich people get to do what they want.
