Hi Vince...the cut off for medical exemptions was December the 10th.....still grey area's for Novak.Agree Craig Tiley has a lot to answer for.Novak is now citing he caught COVID on December 16th?....I am off to work....thank goodness:) Nice to see you. What about Thanasi making the s/finals in Adelaide....great result for him so far.Bye catch you later
So then either one of two things happened if true, he either falsified his claim that he contracted Covid-19 to adhere to the deadline of December 10th if he is claiming he contracted Covid December 16th or he tried to file a claim after the deadline which makes his claim to participate garbage either way. It’s all moot anyway as that wasn’t a valid exemption in the first place per Covid guidelines in Australia.

Whatever that means. Sounds like we're about to be treated to a lot of legalese. Not surprising. Because he probably doesn't have a leg to stand on, in terms of medical exemption. My understanding is that the state gets to make its case, too, so the judge will hear both sides, to the extent they are allowable.
That means they didn't take his celebrity into account when they were holding him at the aeroporto. If he was treated like any other ABP reject, he would've been sent packing days ago. I am so over this whole drama. Let's get to the tennis already.

One thing I hope we answer from this mess is can we please sort out the other people in that place. Their stories are so sad

I know we always act like Djokovic should be treated like everyone else there, I believe the question we really need to ask though is why are we treating our fellow human beings like that in the first place. 2 wrongs does not make a right

I hope irrespective of what happens, Noak comes out and helps the other people in that place. They should not be treated this badly. The Australian government is really disgusting and horrible for treating people like that. And the people of Australia are partially responsible as they voted for this government

I have not seen a single Australian talk about the shoddy treatment

Also I dont know whether this photo is true or not but if it is, then MOrrison is a disgusting person

I think Rafa said it best. Novak made his decision with full knowledge about the potential consequences. Any complaints after the fact is just whining and entitlement. It's all a bit of a balls up from both sides in the end. I don't think the Australian government stood much of a chance after Novak decided to publicise his entry situation. That was colossally stupid of him and shows how inward looking his bubble is. Anyone with half a brain would have told him it would be in his interests to just quietly enter the country without talking about exemptions. Everyone knows how rules focused Australia is. I don't feel in the least bit sorry for him. I predict if he's deported he'll go on a revenge tour in RG and SW19. So Nole-fans... don't worry.. your guy will get his slams. This is just the narrative that will drive him forward in 2022...

I really look forward to seeing Novak beat Rafa again.
Just as I always thought, you are a closet Novak fan and will always be bias against Rafa. At least you are not hiding under your tennis analytics. Good for you Dude

Perhaps the better question is, "Why did you post that, El Dude?"

Answer: To inspire posts like the one above yours.
In fairness, Rafa was his typical diplomatic self, stating what basil fawlty would call “the bleeding obvious.”

My only quibble with him would be when he stated that “a lot of people have died.” On a planet carrying 7bn+ souls, 5m+ isn’t “a lot”, you need a calculator and a couple of zeros after the decimal point to quantify it, but he was being sensitive, and that’s okay. In general he didn’t load on Novak in any way…

Well, it IS a lot, but people die all the time. And given that it is unclear how many of those 5M are deaths FROM covid vs. WITH covid, all-causes mortality should be considered.

From Our World in Data:

Global deaths, 2019: 58.39 million
Global deaths, 2020: 59.23 million

Meaning, about 850,000 more people died in 2020 than in 2019.

According to macrotrends.net, the global death rate of 7.612 per 1000 people in 2020 was slightly higher than 2016-19 (2018 being the lowest at 7.546), but lower than 2015 and every year before that.

It’s not a lot, when taken as a fraction of the whole. But thanks for breaking down some stats there, I’m completely hopeless at that kind of thing…

Well it will all be clearer tomorrow after the court case.As I just got home from night shift. As I have said all along there has always been 'grey area's in Novak's claim since he proclaimed he had a medical exemption and he was on his way to the AO.His claim does not fit Covid guidelines in Australia....Though I am sure his legal team will probably say it was a 'bungle from the Australian Border Force Official's and TA gave him the clearance to come to Australia.

Lies are hard to cover up.

is the given date correct? did he get the result on the 16th or was he tested? result on 17th? at which time?
many uncertainties
soon we will have clarity, at least some kind of decision.
I read the procedure could drag on and thus enable Novak to play.
unbelievable stuff
